Every day is different than the one before, and a calendar is a useful tool for keeping track of the changes of our lives. A calendar is both a way to visualize what our future holds and to build a record of our achievements. In tribute to this, Fabrica creates a special calendar that incorporates another important element of the day, temperature.

The word “calendar” comes from the Latin word kalandae which refers to the first day of every month. We expand on this concept by translating the days into Celsius numbers, combined with the meanings of those temperatures as experienced in the diverse cultures of the Fabrica Design team. The collection of information gathered from around the world, like intriguing references to physics or notes on exotic bird migrations, creates a unique and memorable visualization of 2015.

Ogni giorno è diverso da quello prima e un calendario è uno strumento utile per tenere traccia dei cambiamenti della nostra vita. Un calendario è sia un modo per visualizzare cosa ci riserva il futuro e per tenere nota dei nostri eventi passati. In omaggio a questo, Fabrica crea un calendario speciale che incorpora un altro elemento importante della giornata, la temperatura.

La parola “calendario” deriva dalla parola latina kalandae che indica il primo giorno di ogni mese. Abbiamo lavorato su questo concetto traducendo i giorni in numeri Celsius, in combinazione con la percezione che i vari artisti di Fabrica hanno della temperatura. L’insieme delle informazioni raccolte da tutto il mondo, come ad esempio alcuni intriganti riferimenti alla fisica o alcune note sulle migrazioni degli uccelli esotici, crea una visualizzazione unica e memorabile del 2015.

Fabrica is a communication research centre. Located in Treviso, it is an integral part of the Benetton Group. Fabrica was established in 1994, and offers a one-year study scholarship, complete with accommodation and travel expenses to and from Italy, to an extremely diverse community of researchers from across the globe. Their range of fields is equally varied, and includes design, communication, photography, interaction, video, music, journalism and media. Fabrica is based in a 17th-century villa that has been restored and enlarged by Japanese architect Tadao Ando.

Fabrica è un centro di ricerca sulla comunicazione. Situato a Treviso, è parte integrante di Benetton Group. Fabrica è stata fondata nel 1994 e offre a un gruppo molto eterogeneo di ricercatori da tutto il mondo una borsa di studio annuale, alloggio e viaggio di andata e ritorno per l’Italia. La gamma di discipline è altrettanto varia e include design, comunicazione, fotografia, interaction, video, musica, giornalismo e media.
