Dear St Paul Parishioners, Christ the King is celebrated this weekend. One more week, and we will begin Advent in 2020. It will be quite different this year, won’t it? We have learned to adjust ourselves to the new situation caused by the pandemic. Even during this pandemic, our life continues to be busy and we get very engaged. Please watch for our Advent programs like Penance Service and Retreats, etc. Thank you so much for your participation in the Catholic Services Appeal (CSA) 2020-21. We are going to provide updates to you as we get the data available. Our goal is $48,500. If you are still considering pledging, you are most welcome to do so. We included an update of 2019-20 CSA in this bulletin. The Parish is going to experience another change with the transfer of Fr Hugo. We thank him for his love for St. Paul and all that he did. I appreciate his availability. We need to get used to Fr. Jeff. I look forward to welcoming him. He is a native of New Berlin, WI, ordained to the priesthood in June. So, we can expect a lot of positive energy and enthusiasm. Around Christmas, we especially show our generosity. Please consider St. Paul in your generous giving. Thank you for supporting many of our projects. I am glad that the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Gabriel Projects support families with young children to make a gift during Christmas time. I heard some of you saying that you could sacrifice your gifts from your families and workplaces and give them to a family in need. A few of you have approached us to offer their gifts to the families in need. Thank you. Our Christmas Bazaar is underway. Glad that we can do it through an unprecedented time. Thank you all, who are behind the scenes. Also, the Pastoral and Finance Councils are looking for more members and thank you for those who are nominated and willing to serve. Around Christmas, we would like to invite families to come and decorate some trees on our beautiful property. It could be a great and memorable time for our families. We will have the trails of lights on two nights to come and enjoy. I invite you to take ownership of our property where we are going to build our future church. As always, we recall into our mind the new building project so we can pray for this noble cause. I honestly believe this is time for us to get together to work on it. Our town hall meeting is coming up and please join us. I pray that we sacrifice more so that we will be able to prepare a permanent home for our Lord in a fast-growing South Austin. Thanksgiving Day is around the corner. This year it will be quite different. However, let us give thanks for many blessings. Let the families be the source of our strength. Let us have a heart filled celebration. At the same time, please remember those who are alone and have no family to celebrate with. A blessed Thanksgiving to all, Fr. Johnson, Pastor

Queridos feligreses de San Pablo, Cristo el Rey es celebrado este fin de semana. Una semana más, para empezar el Adviento 2020. Va a ser muy diferente este año, ¿si o no? Hemos aprendido a adaptarnos a las nuevas situaciones causada por la pandemia. Incluso durante esta pandemia, nuestras vidas siguen ocupadas y comprometidas. Por favor, observe nuestros programas de Adviento como el Servicio de Penitencia y los Retiros, etc. Muchas gracias por su participación en la Apelación de Servicios Católicos (CSA) 2020-21. Our parish’s Encountering Christ campaign is ongoing and your participation is needed! Please continue to support our effort with regular payments on your pledge commitment. As of November 5, 2020, the total adjusted pledge amount is $616,916, reflecting a write-off of $39,255. The total received in one-time gifts and payments on pledges is $279,617. Our parish receives 30% of the amount collected and those monies will be used to supplement our New Building Fund. With 45% of the pledges received, the total deposited in St. Paul’s diocesan account is now $83,885! Thank you to those who have already fulfilled their commitment and to those who are making regular payments! This passage from Matthew might be considered a list of essential duties for a follower of Christ. The Gospel points out that Jesus speaks about the “nations” who gather, so we can see this as both an individual and communal response to God. As individuals and as a community, are we able to see Christ in the needy, the least, the poorest and the forgotten? Our yes, to accepting the Kingdom depends on our willingness to see and respond to them as we would to Christ.

By the generous support of the Knights of Columbus we are able to make a wonderful Advent gift to each family. This will be a book: The Search by Chris Stefanick. It is a thought-provoking book that draws in everyone from committed Catholics to those of no faith, leading them to Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. Thank You to everyone who responded to our request of nominating them-selves or someone else for the 5 seats on the Pastoral Council. We have nine nominees. During the weekend Masses of December 5-6, only those physi-cally present at Mass will receive a ballot to choose five of the nominees. We will share the results after the result is confirmed. St. Paul parishioners, you are invited to the New Church Building Town Hall meeting on Saturday December 5th. There will be two meetings. The first one will be at 10:00 AM in the current church building. The second one will be at 1:00 PM also in the current church building. The meeting will be streamed on our website. The meeting will be to discuss the new church building project. Your input is welcomed.

Keep Christ in Christmas The Knights of Columbus here at St. Paul is conducting our 5th annual poster contest for all children ages 5-14 with the theme “Keep Christ in Christmas” and this is an excellent way to get the young people in our parish thinking about the true spiritual meaning of Christmas. The children may participate by drawing and coloring a picture at home on a 11 X 17 poster size paper or similar size paper you can find at home. This year, due to COVID, parents will need to drop off your child’s completed poster to St. Paul by Sunday, December 6th. Parents can drop off in the parish office Monday – Friday (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.), or on the weekend if attending mass. Each poster should be the original work including concept, layout, slogan, and any visual images of each participating child. The Knights will be giving prizes to 1st & 2nd place winners in each age group; ages 5 - 14 and all participants will receive a certificate. Please have the children write his or her first and last name, age, RE instructor’s name, and religion class day on the back of the poster paper. This will help us return the posters after the judging is complete. Also, this is an excellent project for the children to complete over the Thanksgiving holiday. Thank you for participating in this Knights of Columbus “Keep Christ in Christmas” program.

Pecan Fundraiser The Knights of Columbus Council 10209 will be taking orders for our pecan fundraiser. This year there will be two ways to order pecans. You can use our council WEB site www.council10209.org . At the bottom of the WEB page click on 2020 Pecan Sale. An order will be placed with the Pecan Sales coordinator, the order will be available for pickup at the end of the week at St. Paul parish. There will not be a shipping charge or sales tax if the ordered through this method. You can also order through www.berdoll.com WEB site. Buyers who want to ship the pecans, they can do so. Shipping rate is on page 19 of the catalog. Buyers will need to use the code 10209 when they place their order to be shipped. Sales tax will be applied. The fundraiser is used to support our church, our seminarian and various charities. Thank you for supporting our Knights of Columbus Council 10209.

Our St. Paul SVdP Christmas project is underway. We will be available after all masses the weekends of November 21st-22nd and November 28th-29th, to collect donations for the Christmas project. Thank you all so much for your generosity!

St. Joseph Sunday Missal Prayerbook and Hymnal

Just in time for the new Church year, we will have the St. Joseph Sunday Missal Prayerbook and Hymnal available for sale ($2 ea.) following all Masses on Nov. 21-22. They make ideal Advent gifts for friends, family and those in RCIA.

As your family comes together to celebrate Thanksgiving Day, the parish invites to join in the Eucharist to thank the Lord for his abundant blessings, especially in this unprecedented time. Thanksgiving Masses: 7 pm, Wednesday, November 25th. No Noon Mass on November 26th.

Mientras su familia se reúne para celebrar el Día de Acción de Gracias, la parroquia invita a unirse a la Eucaristía para agradecer al Señor por sus abundantes bendiciones, especialmente en este momento sin precedentes.
