I’d like to welcome you to Children’s Ministry at Central United MethodistChurch. My name is Sabrina Williams and I serve as your director of Childrenand Family Ministry.
The sole vision for our ministry at Central is to teach children about theneverending, all encompassing love of God and to enable them to claim thatas the one thing in their life that will never change in whatever circumstancethey find themselves.
We have a dedicated group of volunteers ministering to your children onSundays and Wednesdays. I would encourage you to get involved! We can al-ways use another set of hands and feet.
Our elementary Sunday School program, The Crosswalk, runs year-round.Our Fall evening programming will begin with Wednesday Night Live on Au-gust 19th along with Zone and Club 412 on Sunday, September 13th. Pleaseread about the many opportunities for your child to be active in the life of ourchurch in this newsletter. You may also find information on our church web-site at: www.cumcmdn.org/children.
Our Crosswalk Rotation Sunday School is for grades 1-5. Sunday andWednesday evening activities are for grades K-5. On Sunday evenings, fourthand fifth graders meet together in Club 412. All of our programs are designedto reinforce one another. My hope is that you will allow your child to attendevening activities as well as Sunday School. You will be amazed at what theywill learn!

CLUB 4124TH & 5TH GRADERS
Club 412 was created for our fourth and fifth grade students and is grounded in the scripture I Timothy 4:12,“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you areyoung, but set an example for the believers in speech, inconduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” Lessons are centered on scripture and life-application issues affectingpreteens. This fall the group will be using the “ExperiencingGod at Home” series and Believers Around the World. (Sunday and Wednesday nights in November)This group meets in a space designed for them off of the
11th Street Gym area. Following their lesson and smallgroup time, they have recreation in the gym. Students willalso have an opportunity to learn scripture and qualify foran award trip at the end of the semester.Club 412 meets at 5:30 for dinner in Cafe 412 (on the
stage).

The Zone is for children grades K through 3rd grades.Children are divided K-1st and 2nd-3rd to participate inBible Skills and Drills including storytime, computer, artand recreation. Each lesson has a scripture passage forstudents to learn. This fall, Zone students will also partici-pate in the Believers Around the World workshop. (Sundayand Wednesday nights in November)At the end of the semester, students will have had the
opportunity to learn 7 scripture passages, Old and NewTestament books of the Bible, the Lord’s Prayer and theTen Commandments. They may complete a scripturememorization chart and qualify for an award trip at the endof the semester.The Zone begins at 5:30 with dinner in the 11th Street
Gym kitchen. From 6 to 7 p.m., children meet in break-outgroups.

K-3 and Club 412 students will kick offWednesday nights this fall with the G-Force: God’s Love in Action study. This high-energy curriculum includesmusic, Bible story, craft and science. TheAction Words of the Day, “Move” “Act”
and “Care” accompany a Velocity Verseand Faith Fuel featuring Moses, Solomon,and the Four Friends. This study will take place Wednesdaynights August 19-October 21, culminatingwith a mission project on October 28.

The Crosswalk is a Workshop Rotation program
that incorporates computer, storytelling, art,
drama, cooking, science, video workshops and
much more to present multi-learning-style
lessons from God's Word. Each group of children
has a guide that shepherds them each Sunday
year-round. Workshop teachers change each ro-
tation and are made up of adult church members.
Each unit usually lasts six weeks, culminating in
a Celebration Sunday on the seventh week.
Throughout the rotation, children earn points
through attendance, bringing Bibles and lesson
knowledge. On Celebration Sunday, they redeem
their points for prizes.

Crosswalk children meet in Central Park each
Sunday at 9:40 a.m. for a gathering time.
At 10 a.m. each class goes to its designated
workshop until 10:40 a.m.

Get your passports ready! As we nearthe season of Advent, children will par-ticipate on Wednesday and Sundaynights in one of our most-loved work-shop rotations: “Believers Around theWorld”. Children travel around the world eachclass meeting to a different country tolearn that the message of Jesus’ birthand salvation is the same but celebrateddifferently through meaningful culturalexperiences. Children learn that our cultural diversi-ties are united through the Good News ofJesus’ birth. As brothers and sisters inChrist, we serve one God. Beginning November 1st, the childrenwill visit:
Italy - Hear the Story of La Befana andMother Theresa and participate in theChristmas traditions of Italy.Sudan - Learn about The Lost Boys ofSudan and participate in OperationChristmas ChildSweden - Hear about St. Lucia and par-ticipate in candlemakingUkraine - experience the Ukrainian SviataVecheria or Holy Supper Lebanon - create a Lebanese ChristmasCaveMexico: Reinact Los Posadas and enjoya Mexican meal. The children will share what theyhave learned in an interactive churchprogram on Sunday evening, December13th.

Wednesday Night Live begins with a
family meal at 5 p.m. in the Fellow-
ship Hall. Children ages K-5th Grade
gather at 6 p.m. in Central Park for a
large group lesson and then move
into smaller groups until 7 p.m.
Children are able to spend time
working on their Bible memorization
charts on Wednesday nights.
