33 The Prophet Elijah

King Ahab served a false god and didn’t listen to God.

Prophet Elijah said, “Due to your fault, it won’t rain for

few years.” God sent Elijah to the Brook Cherith.

Then, He sent a raven to Elijah. Elijah ate the bread and

meat that the raven brought, and drank from the brook.

After a while, the brook dried up since it stopped raining.

God spoke to Elijah.

1 Kings 17-18, 2 King 2

“Go to the land of Zarephath. A woman there will look

after you.” Elijah met that woman.

She only had a handful of flour and a little bit of oil.

Elijah said to the woman, “If you make me a small cake,

you will never run out of flour and oil.” The woman made

a rice cake for Elijah. Elijah ate the cake deliciously.

But, surprisingly, the flour and oil was never used up

in her house no matter how much they ate.

It has been 3 years since it stopped raining. Elijah said

to King Ahab, “Let’s have a match to see whose god is

the real God.” Many people gathered at Mount Carmel.

The prophets of Baal prayed to their god first.

“O Baal, send us the fire!” But nothing happened.

This time, Elijah prayed to God. Then the fire fell down

from sky and burned the sacrifice.

All the people understood that God is the real God.

Time passed. God decided to take up Elijah

into heaven. It was when Elijah was standing

on Jordan River with Elisha, his disciple.

All of a sudden, chariot of fire appeared

with horses of fire from the sky and separated

Elijah and Elisha. Then, Elijah went up

into heaven by a whirlwind.

Namwoo’s sister Natalie wanted him to fold an airplane for her.

But Namwoo wanted to play ball with his friends. But he forgot

that promise while he was playing.

His sister fell asleep from crying, cuddling the colored paper.

Namwoo felt bad toward his sister after coming back late.

So he decided to keep even the smallest promise.
