Church Office Closed July 4th Happy Independence Day!

Digby House Worship will not meet in July due to the holiday. Finance Committee will meet on Wednesday, July 12th at 7pm in the Pastors’ Study. Foster Friends will meet at 9am, July 10th & 24th at Christo’s on Teal. Health & Caring Committee will not meet in July. Martha Circle will meet not meet in July. Miriam Circle will meet Wednesday, July 19th at 9:30am in the Fellowship Hall. Moving Forward will meet Thursday, July 20th at 11:30am at The Olive Garden. All widows & widowers are welcome. Quilter’s Group & Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet July 15th at 9:30am in room 5. Ruth Circle will meet Wednesday, July 26th offsite. Staff Parish will meet Monday, July 24th at 7pm in the Pastors’ Study. Trustees Committee will meet Monday, July 10th at 7pm in the Pastors’ Study. Women of Faith Bible Study will meet every Tuesday at 10am in Rm. 4.

For the month of July, we will be collecting CANNED CHICKEN, CANNED FRUITS & VEGETABLES, PEANUT BUTTER, JELLY (NO GLASS), & KNORR SIDE DISHES. Cases of items are appreciated as well as monetary donations. Donations can be left in the shopping carts near the entry to the Gym. Questions: please see Diana Jones or phone her at 765- 474-3528. Indeed, we are “feeding the

least of these” and providing an expression of God’s love to hungry children in our community.

Running away from God

New sermon series starting July 9th

Church for Everyone is an offsite worship service of Chr ist UMC held in

downtown Lafayette. Church for Everyone serves people in our community

who are experiencing homelessness as well as people who find themselves in low

income housing. We worship God, celebrate communion together, provide a free

community meal, and a food pantry. Church for Everyone worship services are

held on the last Saturday of every month at 11:00 am. We could use your help!

We like to provide healthy foods to the people we serve. We need people to bring

in perishable items like milk, bread, cheese, fruits, and vegetables just prior to the

last Saturday of the month. If you would like to donate or serve at one of our

As a new member or one who recently started attending Christ United

Methodist Church, you are invited to lunch at Pizza King on Sunday, July

30th at 12:15pm for fellowship and an opportunity to meet with some of the

leadership and staff of the church. We will briefly talk about a few of the

current ministries of the church and some plans for the future. You are a

Women’s Spring Event at Painting With a Twist

Our Women's Spring Event this year was a time of personal discovery and FUN! On

Sunday afternoon, May 21st, fifteen ladies met at Painting With a Twist, found they

had hidden talents, and a whole lot of fun! We had some new faces and introduced

ourselves then got down to business. Staring at our blank canvases, we watched in

anticipation as our facilitator for the day showed us our first painting instructions.

After that we relaxed a little more, enjoyed and encouraged each other, played some

games, enjoyed some refreshments, and left with a masterpiece!

THANK YOU FROM THE FOOD PANTRY

Thanks to the congregation for their generosity in

supporting the Food Pantry. A big thank you also to

Glenn and Zoe Pearson who reported delivering 67

pounds of food following our May collection period.

DO NOT SEARCH FOR SECURITY IN THE WORLD YOU INHABIT. You tend to make mental checklists of things you need to do in order to gain control of your life. If only you could check everything off your list, you could relax and be at peace. But the more you work to accomplish that goal, the more things crop up on your list. The harder you try, the more frustrated you become. There is a better way to find security in this life. Instead of scrutinizing your checklist, focus your attention on My Presence with you. This continual contact with Me will keep you in My Peace. Moreover, I will help you sort out what is important and what is not, what needs to be done now and what does not. Fix your eyes not on what is seen (your circumstances), but on what is unseen (My Presence).
