RSS alum BECKY CHANIS ‘01 embodies this community spirit. Becky works as the HIV/AIDS Coordinator for the Southern Africa Regional Environmental Program. SAREP is an organization that seeks to improve and develop regional and national water and sanitation services, and integrates HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment into all of their program work. Based in Botswana, Becky relays that her early years at RSS influenced her career path. In her sixth grade Rodeph Sholom School yearbook, she described herself as an “environmental activist.” Clearly, Becky’s RSS experience not only provided a foundational education, but also inspired a sense of social responsibility.

BEHIND EVERY ACT OF GENEROSITY AND SPIRIT, THERE’S AN RSS STORY. Our students graduate to be productive, compassionate, confident individuals who enrich the world around them. We encourage you to reflect on the important role Rodeph Sholom School has in your family’s life.

Alum’s NICKY LEVY, LEO SEPKOWITZ, BRANDON DAVID ‘07 attended RSS together for the first 10 years of their lives. Although they attended different high schools and colleges, they remained best friends. In February 2014, they traveled to Prague together. Three months later, the trio ventured to Israel, where they visited another former classmate, ETAI AVITAL ‘07, who was serving in the army. Despite borders and cultural crossovers, RSS remained a constant and comforting bond for these young alumni.

At the age of 13, alumna TALIA ESKENAZI ‘13 was already making a difference in her community. Impacted by RSS’s character building combination of academic and philanthropic education, Talia decided to dedicate her time to bring smiles, joy and education to disadvantaged children. Together with Chase Kauder, another former RSS student, Talia co-founded Celebrate U Foundation a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to spread happiness by throwing birthday parties for children living in under-served communities. The effect of these celebrations goes way beyond cake and party favors, Celebrate U parties help to build self-esteem, provide hope for a brighter future and serve as an exemplary model of community building nationwide.

YOUR GIFT IS VITAL

One of the most powerful and immediate ways you can help RSS

students is by giving to the Annual Fund. Imagine what future RSS

graduates will accomplish, armed with the strong educational

skills that they gain here, and emboldened by our collective en-

couragement. This year – with your participation – we can contin-

ue this legacy of sustainability, making Rodeph Sholom School ac-

cessible to even more qualified students who cannot afford the full

tuition, and providing even more opportunities to the 88% and

growing number of faculty who have opted to take professional

development courses.

AS WE STRIVE TO ACHIEVE THIS YEAR’S GOAL OF

$1.6 MILLION, WE ASK THAT YOU CONSIDER

MAKING YOUR GIFT BY THE 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL,

WHICH IS MARCH 1, 2016. MAKE YOUR GIFT AS EARLY

AS YOU CAN, OR MAKE A PLEDGE NOW.

You have until March 1, 2016 – the 100th day of school – to make your pledge, and until June 30th to fulfill. That’s right – pledge now, pay later!

Your commitment by March 1, 2016, will allow RSS to plan financially for the year ahead.

Your participation sets a tradition of giving, which we hope our current students will adopt as they enter our alumni ranks, supporting the next generation of RSS students. Simply put, your participation indicates a vote of confidence for the RSS experience past and present!
