RKE SPIRIT NIGHT AT WHATABURGER
WHEN: TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 3RD
WHERE: 2940 W Grand Pkwy N, Katy, TX 77449
MORTON RANCH LOCATION
TIME: 5-7PM
We are so excited about the character skills we will be learning about this year.
This month we’re talking about the wonderful and sometimes
oversimplified character trait of Kindness. The dictionary
defines it as: “the quality of being friendly, generous, and con-siderate.” But it is so much more than that! The definition we are using in class is:
Kindness: the choice to act with words, gifts, or actions to
bring appreciation, positivity, and encouragement to others
and yourself.
We spend talking about how Kindness isn’t just a feeling,
but a choice that we get to make every day! It’s an exercise in
bringing good things into our lives and the world. Those good
things can (and should!) look like more than kind words;
Kindness is given through our actions and our encourage-
ment and our attitude and our gifts. We will spend time think-
ing about how to be kind to ourselves, to our environment, to
our school, and to one another.
Conversation Starters
Kindness isn’t only for others. Explain how you show Kind-
ness to yourself.
Some people say that the most genuine act of Kindness is
done when no one else is looking. What do you think that
means? Can you think of any ways to show genuine Kind-
ness?
The A+ Pay N’ Go online web store can be
accessed on the District’s main web page, or on a campus’ homepage in the top right corner, below the main navigation panel.
The online web store provides a convenient way for parents to make payments for cafeteria meals, activity fees and a variety of other campus and district-related services. Best of all, there are no transaction fees and the system accepts credit cards and eChecks.
Speak Up
SpeakUP is an anonymous reporting system that enables Katy ISD students, parents, and community members to anonymously submit safety and well-being tips to help prevent school related incidents that could cause harm to others.
Tips may include bullying, weapons, suicide or self-harm, illicit drug use, inappropriate relationships, violence, and other concerns for safety and well-being. In addition to submitting anonymous and se-cure tips, users can upload video and photo evidence. All tips are thoroughly investigated by campus personnel, police and/or a crisis management team.
What users can do with this app:
Anonymously submit a tip to Katy ISD police, Counseling Ser-vices, and campus/district administration concerning school, district or student safety
Attach video or photo evidence that supports your tip
Select from over 40 different tip categories
Review updates on the tip that you submitted
To get started you need to:
Download the SpeakUP app on your mobile or other smart de-vice. Download through Google Play Store or iTunes App Store to install the app.
What this App can do:
Tell you via push notification (if app is open) when your child's bus is within a certain distance from their stop.
Show you where the bus is on its route.
Allow you to track multiple buses for multiple children
What this app cannot do:
Tell you if your child is on the bus
Tell you when your child gets off the bus
Notify you of the bus's arrival at a stop if the app is not open.
Send text messages
To get started you need to:
Download the Edulog Parent Portal Lite app on your mobile device. Down-load through Google Play Store or iTunes App Store to install the app
Use the specific campus code provided by your school via email. These codes will be emailed to parents of eligible bus riders at the beginning of August.
Follow the step by step instructions on how to download the app and use its features Parent Portal Step-by-Step Instructions
RKE code 45114404
The Edulog Lite Parent Portal app monitors the location of school bus-es as they travel their routes across Katy ISD boundaries. This is done through Global Position System (GPS) hardware that is installed in each Katy ISD bus.
By connecting to the Edulog Lite Parent Portal app, parents can now see how close their child's bus is to its designated before- or after- school stop, as well as track the bus while it is in route. The Edulog Lite Parent Portal is only available for students who are eligible for trans-portation services in Katy ISD.

King Elementary is using Positive Behavior Interven-tion Strategies to recognize students making good choices. PBIS Rewards is a technology-based Man-agement System that helps us with our behavior in-centive program and earn Pride Points. You can learn about PBIS Rewards at their website (www.pbisrewards.com). The digital PRIDE Points is replacing King Cash from previous years. Our stu-dents can earn rewards throughout the day by meet-ing our behavior expectations. These rewards are in the form of electronic points. They can redeem these points for privileges, tangible items, access to events, and other similar things. Our expectation is that we recognize student showing their PRIDE (Positive Atti-tude, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Encour-agement). PBIS Rewards has a Parent App that will give you some insight into how your child is doing with respect to our PBIS program. The Parent App will run on most smart devices, including smartphones and tablets. You can find it in the iPhone/iPad App Store, Google Play, and the Amazon App Store, just search for "PBIS Rewards Parent." It is important to remember each child has an individual QR code as-signed to them specifically when installing the app. If you have any questions please contact your child's teacher or Karla Guevara, Instructional Coordinator, at [email protected].
Per the KISD/RKE STUDENT HANDBOOK Birthdays: Per KISD Board Policy, “Birthday invitations are classified as non‐school related materials and may not be distributed at school”.Parents may send a birthday treat of their choice to be shared with the child's classmates on his/her birth date. These treats will be shared at a time, after lunch, based on teacher discretion. The treat is limited to one item per classmate and it is preferred that the treat be a single serve, store-bought item (i.e. cupcake, cookie, etc.). Parents should keep in mind that there are manystudents that have food allergies (i.e. peanuts, glutens, etc.) In-gredients must be labeled on the items.
No other items (party favors, balloons, flowers) will be distribut-ed. Additionally, parents may not go to the classrooms as teach-ers will distribute the treats.
Please notify your child’s teacher if you are planning to send treats. We ask that treats be delivered to the office by noon to insure they are delivered to the classroom in a time-ly manner.
