ABOUT LAST NIGHT... The Round Rock Express silenced the Oklahoma City Dodgers 2-0 to claim a series victory on Saturday night at Dell Diamond. E-Train SS Jack Mayfield kept his hot streak alive with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning, his fourth bomb in his last six at-bats. The next inning, 3B Nick Tanielu went deep to extend Round Rock’s lead to 2-0. The E-Train bullpen stood strong in three innings of relief to preserve the shutout victory. After relieving starter RHP Brandon Bielak in the seventh, RHP Dean Deetz fanned four of his six batters faced to notch a hold. RHP Riley Ferrell then tossed a 1-2-3 ninth inning to pick up his first save in an E-Train uniform and secure Round Rock’s 2-0 victory. Bielak earned the win after 6.0 strong innings in which he punched out nine while surrendering only one walk and four hits. Dodgers RHP Daniel Corcino suffered the loss after allowing two runs on three hits and three walks in 5.0 innings of work. BACK ON TRACK Chupacabras RHP Carson LaRue was activated on Sunday afternoon after a 12-day stint on the team's Injured List. The righty looks to bounce back from a rough start to his Triple-A career. In four starts with Round Rock since being promoted from Double-A Corpus Christi on July 11, LaRue is 0-3 with a 5.59 ERA (12 ER/19.1 IP). His last outing was an August 1 no decision in which he allowed four runs on three hits and three walks in 2.0 innings against Fresno at Dell Diamond. A WEEK TO REMEMBER Chupacabras starting pitchers are in the midst of the unit's best run of the season. Since August 11, Round Rock starters have combined to go 5-0 with a 2.45 ERA (10 ER/36.2 IP) in six total games. The group has allowed only 24 hits and 10 walks while punching out 45 in that span. JACK OF ALL TRADES Round Rock INF Jack Mayfield continued his impressive hitting performance with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning last night, marking a stretch of four home runs in six at-bats across two games. Since July 14, Mayfield has hit safely in 27 of 28 games, combining to bat .336 (39-116) with 10 doubles, a triple, 12 homers and 36 RBI. He has reached base in 33 of his last 34 games dating back to July 5. ON THE CUSP OF HISTORY Thanks to two more stolen bases last night, Chupacabras OF Kyle Tucker upped his season total to 28. With 32 homers already under his belt, Tucker needs just two more steals to become the fifth player in the 116-year history of the Pacific Coast League to record a 30-30 season, joining Albuquerque's Joc Pederson (2014), Los Angeles' Frank Demaree (1934), San Francisco's Lefty O'Doul (1927) and Salt Lake City's Tony Lazzeri (1925). HAVE A MONTH Round Rock hitters have combined to post a .343 batting average (182-531) through the first 15 games in the month of August. Prior to his time in Quad Cities, Storey served as the Development Coach at Class-A Advanced Buies Creek in 2017. The former right-handed pitcher had a nine-year professional playing career that included one season with the Astros in 2012 in which he posted a 3.86 ERA in 26 appearances with the Major League club.

Storey was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he attended nearby Deerfield Beach High School before moving on to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. He was drafted twice in his career, first by the Minnesota Twins in the 22nd round of the 2007 MLB Draft and again by the Oakland Athletics in the 31st round of the 2008 MLB Draft. During his nine-year professional career, Storey pitched at every level of affiliated baseball, including stints with Sacramento and Oklahoma City in the Pacific Coast League. He also posted winter ball stints in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Venezuela. He finished his playing career in 2016 following two seasons with the Somerset Patriots of the independent Atlantic League. In total, the righty amassed a career 3.52 ERA in 385 games.
