Fax: 776-2567 One of the most notable advantages of a small community is the ability to make
great things happen when everyone works together for a common goal. This is what
we are currently working on with our student body, with the planning and execution
of the Fleet Family Fundraiser Garage Sale/Trade Show & BBQ Carnival this May
14th from 10:00 a.m.– 2:00 p.m. We are confident that we will deliver fantastic activi-
ties for the kids and great food for all ages, but we really need everyone’s help to
make sure the garage sale/trade show portion is also a hit. If you have a home sales
business, or just a bunch of items you have found in your spring cleaning that you
no longer need, please consider purchasing a table to help fill our gym with mer-
chandise! The $20 table fee is a direct contribution to the Fleet family, while the
profit from the sales you make is all yours. If you do not think you can find enough
material for a table, but wish to contribute to the event, the SCC is sponsoring a
bake table, and the SRC is hosting a raffle table. If you would like to donate baking,
contact Marla Gellvear at 776-2259, and if you have a raffle prize to contribute, call
Angela Krauss at the school, 776-2332. Most importantly, however, is participation
in the event itself. Please come down, shop around, and enjoy a BBQ lunch and some
socialization. We sure hope to see you on the 14th! Thank you in advance for your
support.

The Real Game. We got jobs and we got to see how much we made. We got to make
streets and it was really fun. It was cool when we lost our jobs be-
cause of a tornado.
Ethan Math Square rooting. I liked how we had to solve problems and find the square root for a
number that has a decimal. I also liked how I did really well on the
test.
Hayden ELA Fact and opinion. We had to write 1-2 paragraphs on a video we watched and make it
into a news story. We talked about what we actually saw and what
was made up. I loved making it sound really cool.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART!
The K to 6 students will be participating in this event which is sponsored by
the Heart & Stroke Foundation. This year, our goal is to raise over $3000.
Please make cheques payable to the Heart & Stroke Foundation. The
pledge sheet and money must be returned to the school on or before
Wednesday, May 11. The jump-off will take place from 12:45-2:20 on the
11th. There will be skipping outdoors and other indoor activities. Please
come and join in the fun!
Alexa Art Remembrance Day. I really enjoyed this unit because I liked thinking about re-
membering the soldiers who fought for our country to make
us free. I really loved drawing my poster too.
Brianna Social Globalization/climate
change.
We got to pick a country and finish a national disaster pro-
ject and find out what their main imports and exports are.
This unit is really fun. Mr. Singleton helped us when we
were confused.
Jamie Math BEDMAS
(brackets, exponents, divi-
sion, multiplication, addi-
tion, subtraction)
It was easy and I enjoy how it is step by step. The rules are
all laid out as well. Mrs. Phillips was really helpful in teach-
ing us tricks and when we needed help was always there.
With only 8 ½ weeks of school to go, the Grade 7/8’s will be very busy. In ELA we will be working on various pro-
jects such as, literary elements, poetry and oratory speeches. In Art we have been experimenting with water col-
our painting. They have done various assignments on creating clouds, bushes, trees and one colour landscapes.
The students will be creating their own water colour landscapes. I cannot wait to see the end result!
The Grade 8’s will be finishing various units in math on probability, data analysis and linear relations. Our year
end trip is planned for Monday, June 27. If your child is not going to be here that day please let me know in ad-
vance. ~ Mrs. K
The grade 7s have been working hard in Math this year. They have covered numerous topics including: 2-D Ge-
ometry, Circle Graphs, Measurement, Statistics, Probability, Number Relations & Divisibility, Fractions, and
Decimals. Currently, the students are reviewing the concepts on Percent, preparing for their unit exam next
week. They will finish up the year with their final units on Integers and Linear Relations & Equations.
~ Mrs. Phillips
In Social 7/8 students have recently been learning about globalization. They completed a project demonstrating
how new developments in technology are making the world a smaller place. They learned about imports and ex-
ports and the reasons why countries choose to import and export goods. Students then learned about John A.
MacDonald’s 1867 National Policy and the more recent North America Free Trade Agreement. Students complet-
ed the unit by pondering the benefits and drawbacks of a North American Union involving Canada, USA, and
Mexico. ~ Mr. Singleton

Where Are They Now?
Alyssa Copeland, Rouleau School, Class of 2010
Upon graduating, I pursued a post-secondary education in Saskatoon studying Interior Decorating. I attended a
very small college with a dynamic I was used to, as it was made up of small classes and one-on-one assistance from
my teachers. While in Saskatoon, I also obtained a certificate in Home Staging, giving me an extra hand if I ever
decided to dabble in the Real Estate Market.
The Interior Decorating program I took was a very compact year that skimmed the surface of all realms of the inte-
rior design world, focusing mostly on design consultations. It had always been my plan to take my education one
step further, so while I was in Saskatoon I applied to the Interior Design Diploma program at Lethbridge College. I
had to do a few small projects for my application, but soon enough I was accepted and ready to depart for the fall
semester. Within 2 years, I had graduated with a diploma in Interior Design, which added to my 1-year Diploma in
Interior Decorating and Home Staging Certificate.
Since leaving Lethbridge, I have worked at Carpet One and Floors Now, working in sales and providing design con-
sultations. In the Floors Now position, I had a management role as well, but that job was short lived when an op-
portunity in the Crawford Homes Drafting Department arose. It has always been my goal to work for a home build-
er, so this was a huge step in the right direction. I moved from Moose Jaw to Regina in January 2016, and have
been drafting spec and client homes for Crawford ever since. My dream is to work for a home builder to design
show homes and help customers choose interior finishes.

Studying at the Royal Military College (RMC) is providing me with unique challenges and opportunities that will
and already have begun to shape me into a better leader. To begin with, I am a member of the Canadian Armed
Forces (CAF) and an aspiring officer. I have already completed my Basic Military Officer Qualification course,
which focused on military discipline and skills (drill, weapons training, and first aid), leadership techniques and
military planning skills.
While at RMC, I have received additional training from the military instructors and officer cadet upper years. This
includes the First Year Orientation Period (FYOP), which is held during September in first year. FYOP aims to
train the first year cadets to overcome obstacles, both physical and mental, that will be faced at the college, such as
physical fitness training, dress and room inspections, balancing school work with college responsibilities, and work-
ing as a team. FYOP is concluded with a literal obstacle course and, upon completion, acts as a rite of passage into
the college officially.
With many clubs and teams at the college, there are plenty of opportunities for travel and other experiences. I am
fortunate enough to be involved with the RMC Skydiving Club, War Games Club, Photography Club, RMC Choir,
and being in charge of the Media Division for the RMC Model UN conference. Throughout my time at the college, I
am presented opportunities to make professional connections with both military members and experts in academia.
One of the recent opportunities was attending a Mess Dinner in Ottawa for the Conference of Defense Associations.
Attending the dinner were various current and ex-commanders and generals of the Canadian and other interna-
tional militaries, as well as Senators, Ministers, and civilian defense experts.
This summer, I will be doing On-The-Job training at an Air Force base in Canada. Unfortunately, I do not know
where or when yet. However, I will be able to work alongside a military member and learn the skills that I need for
my future job as an Aerospace Engineering Officer. I am hoping to work with Maritime Helicopters and the opera-
tions of the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Breanne Harvey, Rouleau School, Class of 2015
I am studying Business Administration at the University of Regina and plan to go to the U of S once I am done in
Regina to get a diploma in agriculture. I started assistant coaching a QCVC club volleyball team this year. My first
semester was difficult and I found the course load in BUS 100 overwhelming, but I made it through and this se-
mester is a breeze compared to last.
