Thanks for your participation By Katherine Shultz Poking fun at the Mayor of Canton by presenting him with a badge and handcuffs for his traffic patrol mo- ments at the joint Rotary meeting of the Massillon and Canton clubs was fun. Presenting our own Mayor Kathy with a flashing orange light that stops traffic and bulldogs was even better. Seeing our Tigers outplay the bulldogs in every way possible, PRICELESS! In every job or position there are always one or two things that are both fun and reward- ing that offset the many hours of hard work. In the weeks ahead we will work and play hard to make things happen for our community. Thursday, Nov 7th, 2013, we will support the United Way when the Masters comes to Massillon at the Mas- sillon Museum. There will be 18 holes of miniature golf set up in the most creative way with local artists designing the challenging course layout. This year our club purchased new coats for kids in “Operation Warm.” This is not to be confused with “The COOL Project” that came to Massillon in June. The coats will be distributed by the Boys and Girls Club, Salvation President’s Message A November To Remember Army, and Goodwill. A win for those children who need a coat to wear. Coming November 21st is the “Night At The Museum” which is our Rotary Foundation fundraiser. This will again be at the Museum and offers the op- portunity for fun as many will choose to dress in costume to bid silently or in the oral auction held and sample the cuisine from local restaurants. Please invite friends to join us as well to insure the success of this major event. This year our Rotary Foundation and club is reaching out locally to the Lincoln Historic Theatre Project to raise funds for the purchase of a digital projector. This will insure years of tradi- tional movie entertainment to continue. Recently we also purchased 60 books titled “The Secret Gift”. This outlines the story of B. Virdot who anonymously helped others. As Rotarians we are helping others afar and locally to make a difference that upholds the values of Rotary. I hope you will share what is going on that our good works will not be a secret but instead encourages oth- ers to join us. There is much work to be done and ... fun to be had by all.
