Introduction

SOS Children's Villages take action for children as an independent non-governmental social organization.SOS respect varying religions and cultures, and we work in countries and communities where our mission can contribute to development. SOS work in the spirit of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and we promote these rights around the world. With the SOS Children's Village concept, our organization pioneered a family approach to the long-term care of orphaned and abandoned children.

SOS have two key programmes, Family Based Care (FBC) and Family Strengthening Programme (FSP).

SOS Children's Villages has been present in Alwaye-Cochin since 1990. In addition to advocating for the rights of children, we support families so that they can generate an income and stay together, and SOS provide family-based care for children who have lost the care of their parents.

Vision

Every child belongs to a family.

Every child grows with respect.

Every child grows with love.

Every child grows with security.

Mission

WE SHARE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF THEIR COMMUNITIES

Life in Kerala has improved over the past few decades. Kerala's literacy and life expectancy rates are among the highest in the country. However, many babies are born with a low birth weight and illnesses such as diarrhoea, dysentery and hepatitis spread easily due to the shortage of sanitation facilities and clean water.

Cochin is one of the fastest-growing cities in India, but the infrastructure has been unable to keep up with this development. There is a lack of affordable housing, adequate sanitation and safe drinking water. In addition, the unemployment rate is high.

In spite of government initiatives to improve the living conditions of the urban poor, there are an estimated 280 slums in Cochin. The people living here have no access to basic infrastructure or services. Children living in these conditions have a high incidence of sickness and malnutrition. Many do not go to school, or have dropped out of school, because they have to work in order to support their families. These children can be found begging or selling small goods on the streets. While some street children return to their families at the end of the day, others have lost parental care, living and surviving alone on the streets of the city. These children are especially vulnerable as they struggle to keep safe, healthy and well-nourished.

Trainee take him to the causality and doctor checked him and prescribed medicines and dressing for leg. The trainee bought the medicines from the public dispensary.

Trainee learned about Crisis management. Trainee understood that Crisis management is the process by which an organization deals with a major event that threatens to harm the organization, its stakeholders, or the general public.

Contingency planning is preparing contingency plans in advance, as part of a crisis-management plan, is the first step to ensuring an organization is appropriately prepared for a crisis. Crisis-management teams can rehearse a crisis plan by developing a simulated scenario to use as a drill. The plan should clearly stipulate that the only people to speak publicly about the crisis are the designated persons, such as the company spokesperson or crisis team members. The first hours after a crisis breaks are the most crucial, so working with speed and efficiency is important, and the plan should indicate how quickly each function should be performed.

When preparing to offer a statement externally as well as internally, information should be accurate. Providing incorrect or manipulated information has a tendency to backfire and will greatly exacerbate the situation. The contingency plan should contain information and guidance that will help decision makers to consider not only the short-term consequences, but the long-term effects of every decision.

2. Merits and demerits of television

What are Advantages of watching Television?

In this busy life, television can be the easiest source of entertainment.

By watching news channel, we get updated with the things going around the world.

A channel, like Discovery, gives information about Wild life.

Watching quiz shows can increase our knowledge.

Page 10: Roprt on sos

By watching recipe channel, we can learn many recipes.

Various reality shows ( like singing, dancing, acting) can motivate people, who are interested in that field.

What are disadvantages of watching Television

Adult scenes, frequently shown on television, will have bad effect on children's mind.

Children’s, who are addicted to watch television instead of playing outdoor games, are more prone to Obesity.

Watching television will have bad effect on our eyesight.

Due to television, we don't prefer to socialize with our friends and relatives.

If people relate their own story with some character, it can have bad impact on their own life. I will explain it with a true story I heard. There was one popular Indian television show, and a lady had a story similar to that show. Once a hero of that show died. And she was considering him as her son, so she could not take up the news and fainted and she has to be hospitalized. So never relate your story with anyone.

Many time children's try to imitate some act, they have seen on television, which is dangerous for them.

Children watching scary shows may affect their mental condition.

Children watching any violent acts have more tendencies to develop violent behavior. A book named "Stop teaching our Kids to kill” will give more information on how violent TV shows, violent movies and video game affect the mental condition of kids.

Trainee reached Youth house at 9am.Trainee conducted spoken English test for the children in the SOS Youth House with the help of M.C THOMAS Sir.

In today’s global world, the importance of English cannot be denied and ignored since English is the most common language spoken everywhere. With the help of developing technology, English has been playing a major role in many sectors including medicine, engineering, and education, which, in my opinion, is the most important arena where English is needed. Particularly, as a developing country, Turkey needs to make use of this world-wide spoken language in order to prove its international power. This can merely be based on the efficiency of tertiary education. Consequently, English should be the medium of instruction at universities in Turkey for the following three reasons: finding a high-quality

Page 11: Roprt on sos

job, communicating with the international world, and accessing scientific sources in the student’s major field.

The education in universities should be done with English for three reasons. First, students who know English are able to find their favorite job related with their field. Second, they can communicate with others internationally. Third, as a major language in universities, English makes accessing information easy for students. In my opinion, internationally, people need one common language. For many years, English has been the common would-wide language, and it will be in the future. For this reason, if you want to follow trends, new gadgets and technology, modernization of the developing world, you have to know English whatever age you are in.

TIME IS VALUABLE

Anthony was a very lazy boy and always used to postpone things. One day his father called

One day, he came to know that he had won the first prize in a singing competition that was

held the previous month. He was asked to collect the prize the same day. He didn't care and

went to collect the prize the next day. But the prize became useless for him, as it was a
