And the building begins…

• It was determined that each Romulus and Remus would be in charge of a section of the new city. It was also said that Romulus section was to be twice the size of Remus. Romulus ,using a plow pulled by a white cow and a white bull, cut a furrow to mark the boundary of his section.

• Remus ,angry at his brother getting the larger part, jumped over the furrow into his brother section.

How Did He Make Families?

• Romulus knew that if he didn’t get women into his city, Rome would only last for one generation.

• So he first tried convincing neighboring towns to grant the right of intermarriage between their towns.

• Fearing that Rome might get to much power, every town that Romulus went to they turned down the proposals.

• So in order to get the women Romulus decided to steal them for his new city.

Page 8: Romulus

What were the women called?

• The women were called Sabine's , the men followers immediately took their choice of women. The better looking of the Sabine’s were reserved for the patricians.
