Sunday Second Collection – Maintenance & Repairs Wednesday Thrift shop open from 9:30am-12:30pm Friday Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception Saturday Thrift shop open from 9:30am-12:30pm Sunday Second Collection – Archdiocesan Tax Meditation for First Sunday in Advent: Stop everything you are doing and think about the last few months of your life. Were there times when you felt the way the people of Israel did in the reading from Isaiah? Have you felt abandoned by God, adrift in the chaos of life? Now reflect on your spiritual journey. Did the times you felt alone coincide with the times you didn’t make time for prayer, didn’t make time for God? Today, as we take the first step on our path through Advent, let us recommit ourselves to being alert to the Lord moving through our days, even when we are going in the wrong direction. Prayer: Dear Lord, we know that we are not always attentive to you or grateful for the ways you give meaning to our days. Help us to remember that you will never leave us to wander this life lost and alone. You are there. Always. Schedule for Masses for the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception on December 8th area as follows: Buchanan Location: Friday, Dec. 8, 8:00am, 6:30pm 7:30pm (Spanish) Verplanck Location: Thursday, Dec. 7, 7:00 pm, Friday, Dec. 8, 9:00am As of December 1, 2017 the back gate of the Church grounds will be closed to traffic. If anyone is in need of a Notary Service, St. Christopher/St. Patrick can assist by calling Maria 914-737-1046 or Bob Hemsing 914-552-7188. The sick are comforted just knowing that we pray for them. FIRST SUNDAY IN ADVENT
First Reading: Isaiah 63:16b-17, 19b, 64:2-7 In this straightforward psalm, the people acknowledge their sinful ways, yet plead that their Creator might reveal himself to them. They ask God to remember, not their sins, but that “We are all the work of your hands.”
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:3-9 Paul explains to the Corinthians that they are specially favored by God who has sent his only Son to them. He reminds us all that it was through God’s grace that we have been called to kinship with Christ.
Gospel: Mark 13:33-37 Just as a servant watching over the master’s house does not know when he will return, we do not know the hour of the Second Coming. Mark reminds us of the warning from Jesus to always be on guard, for we know not the day nor the hour.
