SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
January 17, 2016
First Reading: Isaiah 62:1-5 Isaiah prophesizes that Jerusalem will again be held in high esteem by God. He states that all nations will witness its glory. He compares a groom's joy toward his bride to the joy that God will feel toward Jerusalem.
Second Reading: I Corinthians 12:4-11 Paul discusses the different gifts and talents bestowed upon different individuals. He explains that each individual receives various talents so that everyone can contribute something to society.
Gospel: John 2:1-11 Jesus and Mary attended a wedding where Mary informed Jesus that there was no more wine. At first he said it did not concern him, but then he turned several jugs of water into wine. His disciples were also present, and believed in him more strongly after they witnessed the first sign of glory he revealed to them.

FEEDING OUR NEIGHBORS DRIVE Sunday, January 24th – Sunday, January 31st
Timothy Cardinal Dolan is calling on all Catholics to Feed Our Neighbors in New York and respond to the overwhelming need we are facing right here in our local community. During this special week, in January, every Catholic individual and household in our parish and throughout the Archdiocese is invited to join with their friends and neighbors in helping to feed the hungry of our local town as well as Rockland County communities. How can you do this? FEED THE BIG WHITE BOX. Bring non-perishable foods to our Feeding Our Neighbors COLLECTION BOX which will located in our church lobby Supporting those who are in need comes rather naturally to us, here at Saint Aedan’s, because we, as a parish family, sponsor a year-round food pantry. We realize that people need to eat every day, every week, every month of the year. Your donations of food will help provide for the needy individuals and families we support here at our local parish as well as the CSSSR food pantry located in North Rockland. Both pantries will share in the food donations you bring here to church. The children in our Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) will also be involved in this Archdiocesan-wide effort. Christ reminds all of us, young and old, to respond to his message of “When you fed or clothed my needy brothers and sisters, that you did unto me.” _________________________________________ Don Bosco Prep to Host Presentation on Teen Depression and Lessons of Hope Don Bosco Prep will hold an evening presentation on teen depression and lessons of hope on Tuesday, January 19, at 7:00pm entitled “Remembering TJ.” T.J. Sefcik, a 16-year-old Montville, NJ varsity athlete and honor student committed suicide in 2010. The presentation is free of charge, open to the public, and will take place at De Sales Hall Auditorium, Don Bosco Prep, 492 N. Franklin Turnpike, Ramsey, NJ 07446. For information, please call 201-327-8003.

ANNUAL MARCH FOR LIFE THIS WEEK WASHINGTON, DC
FRIDAY, JANUARY 22ND BUS SEATS MAY STILL BE AVAILABLE
The seats are $30.00 for adult; $15.00 for student. Clergy ride free, but you still must make a call and make reservation so that we know you’re coming. Liz O'Brien Chairperson Rockland Right to Life Committee PO Box 9348 Bardonia, NY 10954 website: www.RocklandRTL.org
I COMPLAINED I complained because I had to wear old or out of fashion clothing. Then, I saw crowds of people who were naked.
I complained that my meals were dull and boring and that I couldn’t afford to go out to restaurants like my friends and neighbors. Then I saw millions who were starving.
I complained that, because of the economy, I wasn’t able to get away on vacation and was stuck at home this summer. Then I saw families sleeping on the ground with no roof over their heads.
I complained that I had to get up and go to school all week. Then I saw many boys and girls who had no school to go to.
I complained that my job had become routine and dull and that I hated going to work. Then I saw millions who had no job and could not find work.
I complained that it was once again Sunday and that I had to go to church. Then I saw whole countries of people whose churches were burned and who were being murdered because of their faith.
I complained that I had to wait almost an hour in the doctor’s office for an appointment. Then I saw countless numbers of sick and dying who had no access to doctors or hospitals.
I complained that my arthritis hurt and that my joints were all sore because of the weather. Then I saw people who had lost their arms and legs.
I complained that there was, once again, a second collection for another special cause. Then, I paused and wiping back a tear, I thanked God the collection wasn’t being taken up for ME! _____________________________________________
PLEASE VOLUNTEER TO BE A PARISH MINISTER There are different gifts but the same Spirit! We are always very grateful for the ongoing ministries of so many of the men and women and boys and girls of our parish family. Many of you have served for many years.
Right now, as we begin this new year, we are asking more of you to please consider expressing your love of God and our beautiful parish by joining the ranks of our dedicated Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers, Choir members and Altar Servers.
Please let our pastor, Msgr. Nevin, know of your interest in one of these ministries which are all so vital to the ongoing vitality of our parish life. We will work with you in order to come up with a schedule which takes into consideration your other obligations and interests.

The world was a playground for Mickey, a naive Irish American kid bored with his life. His father served in World War II, his brother was a Marine in Vietnam; now it was his turn. His 365 days in Vietnam builds in torment until an attack on a bunker complex in Cambodia. Wounded, his friend captured, he becomes a tormented survivor knowing he is always just a heartbeat from death.
In this memoir, set as deeply in his mind as in the Southeast Asian jungle, a young American soldier embarks
on a journey to a war that, for him, will never be over.
