Wiel also scored the game's first run on an RBI double from Adam Rosales in the 3rd. Matt Magill worked a scoreless inning in his second rehab appearance in as many nights for the Wings. ROSTER MOVE: Minnesota plan to recall RHP Fernando Romero as the 26th man for today's doubleheader in Baltimore. Romero can be active for game two and would need to be returned to Rochester after the second game, barring a different Twins move. HOMER HAPPY: Rochester has hit 23 home runs to produce 36 of the 66 total runs scored this season. The Red Wings hit just seven April homers last year, all coming on or before April 20. The 23rd Wings homer of 2018 did not come until the 42nd game on May 25 when the team hit numbers 21-24. Rochester is on pace to hit 214 home runs, which would shatter the franchise record. Only five teams in the history of the International League have hit 200 or more homers in a season: Baltimore in 1932 (232), 1930 (231), and 1935 (202), Pawtucket in 1996 (209), and Buffalo in 1998 (206). BACON BITS: Rochester lost seven straight games against Lehigh Valley from April 6-18 before Frida night's victory. The IronPigs also beat the Red Wings seven straight times from September 5, 2016 through May 17, 2017. FOURSCORE: The Red Wings went 40-8 last year when scoring four or more runs in a game. The team has already dropped five such games this year, going 4-5. FOR STARTERS: Rochester's starting pitchers have allowed 52 runs so far this season, second-most in the International League behind Charlotte (57). Lewis Thorpe became the first Wings starter to throw a pitch in the 6th inning when he fired 5.2 innings on Wednesday vs. Syracuse and Zack Littell matched the longest outing by a Red Wings starter last night. FAMILIAR FACES: Rochester is in the midst of 16 consecutive games against Lehigh Valley or Syracuse to begin the season. The Red Wings do not play another team until they welcome Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to Frontier Field on Monday, April 22. The Wings won't play out of the division until they host Toledo on Tuesday, May 7. RISPY BUSINESS: The Red Wings were batting .154 (8-for-52) with runners in scoring position entering last Saturday before going 6-for-14. The Wings are up to .237 this season in those situations. Rochester finished last in the league with a .212 average with RISP in 2018. MORE FROM APRIL 13th: Rochester and Lehigh Valley combined for 38 runs, 43 hits, and 15 home runs as the IronPigs beat the Red Wings 20-18 in 10 innings on April 13 at Frontier Field in a game that lasted 3 hours, 55 minutes. The 15 combined home runs is a ballpark record. The previous high was eight. The 38 combined runs tie a Frontier Field record, set when Buffalo beat Rochester 25-13 on April 29, 2004. Lehigh Valley set a franchise record with nine home runs. Dylan Cozens and Andrew Romine hit back-to-back home runs in back-to-back innings (5th and 6th).
