LOOK WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OUR SCHOOL
I hope the information sent home last week regarding “Bullying No Way” was useful for families when
discussing with their children what to do if they are being bullied or they become an accidental
bystander when someone else is being bullied.
This week is the final week of the athletics program for sport. I would like to thank Amanda Barton for
providing a very comprehensive program to increase our students’ athletic skills and give them the
confidence to participate in the Small Schools Athletics Carnival which will be held Friday 17 th May.
Next Thursday, March 21 we are celebrating Harmony Day. We invite parents/carers, grandparents
and friends to join us at 2pm. There will be musical items followed by food tasting and games.
I have been approached by Jhana Allan who is offering private music lessons for piano and violin.
Please see the information below. If you are interested in your child having private lessons
Jhana can be contacted on 0404 139 058

us.
Hailing from Rocky River, Northern NSW, Jhana Allan started learning violin at age 5 and piano at age 9. She was
involved in the local Armidale Youth Orchestra and Armidale Symphony Orchestra as well as the Musical
Society. This allowed her to establish orchestral skills from an early age. She also played in a balkan-inspired
band which played at Woodford Folk Festival and the Sydney Opera House. She has since studied at the UTas
Conservatorium of Music with Jun Yi Ma, Peter Tanfield and Lucy Carrig, and the Melbourne Conservatorium of
Music with Sarah Curro. This education has led her to play with the Australian Youth Orchestra, Tasmanian
Discovery Orchestra, The ANAM orchestra and The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra. Since finishing her studies,
she joined successful Melbourne band The Woohoo Revue in 2013 and went on an international tour of the UK,
Denmark, Holland and Germany. Jhana has since played with trad jazz/folk band, The Willie Wagtails, started
eastern European band, Rosenstein and folk duo, Still Water. Jhana is currently focusing on her solo singer song
writing career and is in the process of producing her debut solo album, Darkest Night.
