The new Rocky River Police Station replaces the original station on the Civic Campus. This expanded facility will be the administrative headquarters of the RRPD, with offices, training, evidence storage and processing, and a 12-day jail.

This project is currently on track to finish construction in summer of 2021.

FIrst FloorloBBYThe lobby will be off of the main entrance. Visitors will check in at the service window where public safety will direct them on where to go.

The service window will open to an admin-istrative hub that includes records storage, dispatch, and detention command. This hub is within a fortified tornado shelter.

coMMunItY rooMDirectly off the loby will be a Community /Training room that will be available to the public in addition to being used for police Training functions.

connEctIon to cItY HAllTo the east of the new lobby will be a cor-riodor that provides a connection to City Hall. This connection will be open during the day and secured after hours. Interview rooms along this corridor will provide space for police to meet with the public.

dEtEntIonBehind the lobby area is the secured zone of the facility which includes the 12-day detention center.

The Detention Center will include day room/cells, holding cells, central booking, food prep, and medical areas. The cells are grouped into pods of two that share a common dayroom.

Detainees will be brought in via a secure Sally Port in the rear of the facility. All of the detention facilities have been designed to meet all state-required codes for the safety and security of the public.

GArAGE + EVIdEncE storAGEThe vehicle garage will provide a secure place for officers to park their service vehi-cles. Officers will have direct access from the garage into the evidence processing and storage area. This will create an effi-cient chain of custody for all evidence. The garage will also have storage space for additional police vehicles and oversized evidence.

sEcond FloorWAItInG ArEAThe second floor is the administrative hub of the police station. The public will access this level via an elevator off the first floor lobby. An administrator will greet guests in the second floor waiting area and will then escort them to conference or interview rooms as necessary. All other areas of this floor are secure and will be for staff only.

dEtEctIVEs + PolIcE AdMInIstrAtIonThe Detective’s Area will feature a bank of work stations and file storage. The detec-tive’s area is designed to provide them with the space and function they need to investigate crimes in a private setting

Other administrative functions on the second floor will include offices, animal control, and roll call.
