Rivergums Newsletter Term 4 Week 1 2017
Welcome to Term 4. I trust everyone had
an enjoyable holiday break and you are
all ready for our final term of the year.
Thank you to our parents who responded
to our ‘Two Stars and a Wish’ survey
which has given us incredibly valuable
feedback on the Learning Journey Open
Night, School Disco and Faction Athletics
Carnival. The feedback was extremely
positive and we will use this information
for future planning.
This term will see a number of events
which started this week with In-term
Swimming Lessons. A big thank you to our
parents and carers for encouraging
students to be involved and develop
these very important life saving skills. We
have had almost every student
participate, which is great to see.
Our Interschool Athletics Carnival will be
held on Friday 3rd November and Mr
Staples will be sending out more
information regarding this soon.
We will be holding our annual
Remembrance Day Assembly on Friday
10th November . This will include special
guests.
Other activities throughout the term
include the Spring Sports Carnival,
Kindergarten and Pre Primary parent
meetings, Year 6 Transition, Colour Fun
Run, Year 6 Graduation, PP - 6
Presentation Assembly and of course end
of year reports which will be handed out
on Monday 11 December….a very busy
term ahead!
School Development Day (Pupil Free)
Please be advised that Friday 27th
October is a School Development Day
(Pupil Free Day). Staff at the school will

In B2 we have been learning about the features
of dinosaurs and how they used these features to survive in Jurassic times.
At our assembly we recited many interesting facts about the characteristics, habits and types of dinosaurs.
We finished off the performance with the Dinosaur Stomp Dance.
We hope everyone enjoyed our dino-mite dinosaur assembly!

Our In-Term Swimming Lessons are well under way and our students are thoroughly enjoying their lessons. We are so looking forward to the sunshine this week! Please remember to make sure that all of your children’s belongings are clearly labelled. Our swimmers are extra hungry! Please remember to pack a substantial, healthy lunch for their hungry tummies. It would be a great idea to pack some extra healthy snacks too.

New Staff car parking bays have been marked in the Avoca Chase car park. Please note that the car park to the left of the Avoca Chase entrance is for staff parking only. This has been clearly marked. Please do not park in the marked bays. It is important that these bays are left free for staff to park in. Your assistance in keeping these bays free is greatly appreciated.

Congratulations
At present we have approximately 550 students enrolled for the new school year. Could you please ensure that you notify the front administration office if you are intending to move to another school. This information is extremely valuable to us as it will allow for more accurate planning. Thank you.
Are You Returning in 2018?
2018? Where will you be in
Thank you to our Rivergums community for
supporting our ‘No Waste Wednesday’ initiative.
Each Wednesday, our student leaders conduct a
waste audit of our classrooms. Each piece of
rubbish is counted and averaged over the number
of students in the class. The class with the least
amount of waste per child is awarded the Golden
Bin.
Congratulations
to C3 for being
the most Waste
Wise class in
Week 10 of
Term 3.
