Use reported speech to report what someone has said用間接引語來轉述某人的說話
Geppetto said to Cricket, ‘Please look after Pinocchio for me.’

Geppetto asked Cricket to look after Pinocchio for him.
Geppetto請求 Cricket幫他照顧 Pinocchio。
Use infinitives with ‘to’ after ‘asked/told’ toreport what someone has said.
在 ‘asked/told’ 後面用 ‘to’ 和動詞不定式來轉述某人的說話。
Change the pronouns inreported speech.
在間接敍述法中改變代名詞。
When we change direct speech into reported speech, we change ‘said to’ to‘asked’. We change ‘look’ to ‘to look’ and ‘me’ to ‘him’.
當我們將直接敍述法改成間接敍述法時,我們將 ‘said to’ 改成 ‘asked’。我們將‘look’ 改成 ‘to look’ 和 ‘me’ 改成 ‘him’。
We use ‘asked’ in reported speech for requests. We usually find the word‘please’ in a request in direct speech. We remove the word ‘please’ inreported speech.

Add ‘not’ before the infinitives with ‘to’.在 ‘to’ 和動詞不定式前加上 ‘not’。
We use ‘told’ in reported speech for orders or instructions.我們在間接敍述法中用 ‘told’ 來作出命令或指示。
We also need to change the possessive adjectives in reported speech.e.g. Pinocchio said to Blue Fairy, ‘Please save my father.’
Pinocchio asked Blue Fairy to save his father.
