“PASTOR PAUL’S PARAGRAPHS”

Dear Members and Friends of Sweetwater Baptist Church: Recently, I had the opportunity to prayer walk the foundational slab of our new church facility. As I walked around it I was reminded of how critical and important foundations are. Without a strong foundation a structure will become weak and possibly even collapse. Psalm 11:3 declares, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” There are several important foundations that I would like to mention. First of all, there is a NATIONAL FOUNDATION. As we celebrate our country’s independence on July 4th, we are reminded that our nation was originally built upon the foundation of God. When the Pil-grims came to this country from Europe, they came in search of religious freedom. Our na-tional motto is “In God We Trust.” Ronald Reagan once said, “If we ever forget that we are ‘One Nation Under God,’ then we will be a nation gone under.” Psalm 33:12 reminds us, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.” Psalm 144:15 also states, “Happy are the people whose God is the Lord!” (NKJV) We must never forget that the foundation of Ameri-ca is God. Secondly, there is an ECCLESIASTICAL FOUNDATION. Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Church. Jesus said in Matthew 16:18, “Upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” The church is an eternal institution because it is founded upon the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 2:20 states, “And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone.” Finally, there is a PERSONAL FOUNDATION. Jesus is the foundation for the Christian life. First Corinthians 3:11 declares, “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (NIV) Jesus is a strong foundation to build your life up-on. Jesus said in Matthew 7:24, “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock.” When you build you life, marriage, and home upon the person of the Lord Jesus Christ it will stand the test of time. Isaiah 28:16 says, “See this is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone, a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation’.” (NIV)

It is a joy and a privilege to serve you!

With a Pastor’s Love,

Brother Paul Philippians 1:3
