RESOLUTION NO. PB-2018-2 RESOLUTION OF THE SAUSALITO PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE RECOMMENDING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL: (1) APPROVE AND SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF UNITED STATES BIKE ROUTE 95, (2) REQUEST THAT CALTRANS ACQUIRE OFFICIAL DESIGNATION OF THE ROUTE BY THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF STATE HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION OFFICIALS AT THE EARLIEST CONVENIENCE, AND (3) AUTHORIZE THE CITY ENGINEER TO APPROVE POSTING OF SIGNS IDENTIFYING THE ROUTE WITHIN THE SAUSALITO RIGHT-OF-WAY ONCE THE OFFICIAL DESIGNATION HAS BEEN MADE WHEREAS, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials ("AASHTO") has designated a corridor crossing California to be developed as United States Bike Route 95 ("USBR 95"); and WHEREAS, the Adventure Cycling Association and the California Bicycle Coalition, with the cooperation of Caltrans, have proposed specific route to be designated as USBR 95, the current map of which is attached and incorporated into this Resolution by reference; and WHEREAS, the proposed route for USBR 95 comes through Sausalito and can therefore provide benefits to our residents and businesses; and WHEREAS, City Staff and the Sausalito Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee have investigated the proposed route and found it to be a suitable route, and desire that the route be designated so that it can be mapped and signed, thereby facilitating the safe and congestion-free passage of bicycle tourists wishing to transit Sausalito. NOW, THEREFORE, THE PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF SAUSALITO HEREBY RESOLVES: Section 1. Approves and supports the development of USBR 95. Section 2. Recommends that that the City Council of the City of Sausalito: (1) approve and support the development of United States Bike Route 95, (2) request that Caltrans acquire official designation of the route by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials at the earliest convenience, and (3) authorize the City Engineer to approve posting of signs identifying the route within the Sausalito right-of-way once the official designation has been made.
