The Reiffton Association of Parents and Teachers (APT) is a volunteer group that provides many activities and services for the teachers and students of Reiffton School. We are committed to making our school and our community a better place. For more information on our programs, please contact an APT officer or the school office. These activities and events are free of charge (with the exception of the Memory Book, which is offered for sale in the spring). It takes FUNDRAISING to make these events happen! The APT is committed to providing the above activities without burdening our families with a lot of fundraising. We do, however, need to raise money each year to continue with these events and activities. Below are some of the ways that you can help support the Reiffton APT this year:

• Participate in our Yankee Candle Fundraiser, which is our ONLY catalog fundraiser each school year. Nearly our entire budget for the year is funded by proceeds from this sale. This year, the Yankee Candle Fundraiser will run from 9/6/2019 to 9/20/2019. The pickup is scheduled for 10/24/2019 from 4p-6:30pm in the Reiffton cafeteria.

• Participate in the Box Tops program during the year • Register your Giant Bonus Card • Collect Redner’s Receipts • Purchase your Exeter Township School District spirit wear through the

districtwide sale ______________________________________________________________ It also takes VOLUNTEERS! The APT needs a lot of volunteers to make our events safe and successful. We look for help from parents/guardians. In order to help keep the costs of these activities down, we also ask for snack and drink donations. All of our volunteer sign-ups will be done via Sign Up Genius. Sign Up Genius links for upcoming events will also be posted to our Facebook page as well. It is important to note that any volunteer helping at an activity that involves students must have their current volunteer clearances on file at the school. Details on what is needed can be found on the district website. Any specific questions re: volunteer clearances can be directed to the Reiffton school office.

APT meetings are held monthly (with the exception of December and June). The meetings are informal and include reports from the various committees and discussion about new ideas or issues. Meeting dates are listed on the Calendar of Events. Meetings begin promptly at 9:15am in the cafeteria and typically last an hour or under. Want to know what is happening? There are several ways to keep up with Reiffton APT:

• Minutes from each APT meeting will be posted to our section of the Reiffton School webpage.

• Our Reiffton School APT Facebook page is active and we provide frequent updates on events and activities. Make sure to “Like” our page!

• Our APT directory- a sign-up will go out at the beginning of the year. For the 2019-2020 school year, we are doing away with the $5 charge for the directory, however donations will be kindly accepted and appreciated. Our hope is that as many parents will sign up with any information they’d like to provide. Any parent that includes their email address will be included in group emails with information regarding upcoming events, permission slips, flyers, and deadlines. This is a great way to stay updated, in case flyers don’t always make it home with your student.

• You are always welcome to call or email a board member if you have a question or would like to be more involved.

School Dances Our biggest events of the year are easily our three dances – Monster Mash Bash, Spring Fling, and 6th Grade Party (*for 6th grade students only). During these events, the APT provides the entertainment and fun with a DJ and photo booth. We can easily have at least half of the school’s students attending these events, which is why it is so very important that we have parent volunteers to help chaperone/monitor, check-in, replenish refreshments, run traffic, and manage dismissal from the event. These dances are drop-off events, meaning that unless parents are on the volunteer list, they cannot stay and attend. Prior to the dances, procedures for drop-off and pick-up will be sent home. It is important, for the safety of everyone, that they be followed. Students cannot be dismissed prior to the event and an adult must come into the building to pick up their child and any children they are responsible for. Students will not be dismissed to a parent waiting in a vehicle or close by. Also, as implemented last school year, mobile devices are not permitted at Reiffton school dances. This is to provide safety for all students and allows the students to enjoy the night and their friends.
