SMTE 2017 Recommended Audition Material Those wishing to audition should prepare a selection from a classical musical theatre show or style. The cut of the song should be limited to 32 bars and/or not exceed 1 minute in length. No rock or pop. Please, do not sing a song from West Side Story. An accompanist will be provided. Please provide clearly marked sheet-music in the proper key. Students are encouraged, but not limited to select material from the following shows: Gypsy Cabaret Chicago Oklahoma! Carousel Showboat Kiss Me, Kate Man of LaMancha Fiddler on the Roof South Pacific The Music Man Guys and Dolls My Fair Lady Sweeney Todd The King and I How to Succeed...Trying A Little Night Music She Loves Me Ragtime Evita Jesus Christ Superstar The Sound of Music The Secret Garden Students are also encouraged (but not limited) to select material by the following composers and writers: Rodgers and Hammerstein, Jerome Kern, Meredith Wilson, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Frank Loesser, Kander and Ebb, Lorenz Hart, and George Gershwin
