Railway Hospital, Rail wheel Factory, Yelahanka was established in 1984 to provide Quality and timely medical and occupational health services to serving and retired fraternity of Rail Wheel Factory,Yelahanka. It is accredited with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 Certifications. This serene institution is housed in an idyllic and green campus of Bellary road, Yelahanka and is well connected by public transport from various parts of Bangalore. (MAP) Manned by nine doctors from IRMS and complimented by expert consultants from private sector, this Centre has been providing primary and secondary level medical services to eligible patients. Diagnostic and curative services in General Medicine, General Surgery, OBG, Pediatrics,Occupational Medicine, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Dental Medicine are provided by in house specialists/designated private consultants.Clinical facilities are backed by well equipped Laboratory, Radiology Department, Physiotherapy Department ,Pharmacy and in house Kitchen. There is a well laid out Outpatient department and 24 X 7 Casualty. Inpatient wards have sanctioned bed strength of 46 spread over male (16), female (20), Pediatric (4), Special (4) and ICU (2) Wards. It is supplemented by well equipped operation theatre with one major & one minor OT and recovery room. Other facilities include 50 Seater Conference Hall, where scientific seminars and health education programmes are conducted regularly, Mechanised Laundry and Canteen.

Clinical Departments

General Medicine Consultation services provided by Private Consultant are available 5 days a week (MON-FRI). In house Diabetologist is providing comprehensive Diabetes Care 6 days a week.

General Surgery Routine and Laparoscopic surgeries are being conducted by a leading consultant Llaparoscopic Surgeon .The General Surgery Department has Surgical Clinics on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Surgeries are conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Gastroscopy ( Endoscopy ) and minor surgeries are done Fridays.

Obstetrics & Gynaecology Comprehensive Ante Natal,Perinatal and Post Natal Care is being provided by in house specialist. In addition Laparoscopic Pelvic and Abdominal Surgeries are being performed by visiting consultants. Periodic Tubectomy and Vasectomy camps are being conducted

Pediatrics Department Consultant Pediatrician is available for consultation 5 days a week. Immunization Clinic is conducted on every Tuesday.

Orthopedics Department Orthopedics Clinic functions on all days. Arthroscopy and internal fixation facilities are available. The Orthopedics Department has a full fledged Physiotherapy Department backup. In house Orthopaedic Surgeons are being complimented by consultant Arthroscopic Surgeon.

Ophthalmology Department Cataract and other routine eye surgeries are being performed by an expert visiting consultant. Eye clinics are on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The Ophthalmology Surgeries are conducted on Mondays.

ENT department In house specialist provides OPD services Six days a Week. Audiometry services are provided as per statutory norms for employees. Dispersal of hearing aids as per norms are being co ordinated.

Dental Medicine A visiting Dental Surgeon is providing comprehensive Dental Care. A modern Dental infrastructure with RVG has been recently added.

Occupational Health Department The Occupational Health Department conducts periodical medical examination for the employees Five Days a Week at mandated intervals as per Factories Act. Targeted Audiometry Tests for early detection of noise induced hearing loss, PFT for respiratory complications are periodically arranged. Industrial Hygiene study is being arranged as per statutory guidelines for risk stratification. The department is manned by certified Medical Officer.

Ultrasonography Department Ultra-Sound Scanning is done on Appointment Twice a Week.Abdominal and Pelvic Ultrasound is routinely performed by visiting Consultant Sonologist.

Cardiology Visiting Consultants provide Outpatient Services 5 days a Week(MON-FRI). Computerised TMT and Echocardiography Services are being provided on appointment.

Para-Clinical Departments

Clinical Laboratory The Clinical Laboratory is equipped with Fully Automated Biochemistry Analyzer and Hematology Analyzer. All routine Hematology, Biochemistry and Serology Tests are performed in house. Quality Assurance tests are performed as per CMC Vellore guidelines. The range of Diagnostic Tests has been increased with assistance from NABH accredited Labs. Samples are collected between 8.30 AM and 11.00 AM .

Radiology Department

A fully Networked Computer Radiography System with Minipacs has been installed for film less functioning.

Physiotherapy Department 1.Electro therapy facilities like such as SWDT (Short Wave DiathermyTherapy). 2.IFT (Inter Ferential Therapy), Ultrasound massage,TENS and laser therapy are available. 3.Exercise Physiotherapy equipments including Multi Gym are available. 4.There are facilities for Neuro-Muscular Stimulation, Wax Bath , Cervical and Lumbar Tractions.

Medical Stores Quality medicines are procured from leading multinational Pharma companies and registered ISO accredited Indian companies. Periodic sample testing by accredited labs to ensure quality is ongoing. Storage facilities are completely temperature controlled and inventory management is computerised. Registration of supplier companies is mandatory(Requirements)

Computerised Management Health Information Management System has been developed and is being implemented in phases. EHR system will shortly be in place.

The hospital has Fully Mechanized Laundry. Bio medical waste disposal is as per KSPCB norms.
