What is the DLP• The DLP is a program that provides lectures
worldwide on topics of current interest forchapter meetings.
• This program brings experts otherwise notavailable to the chapters, and enhancestechnical activities for chapters.
Objective of the DLP• Provide support to PES Chapters to deliver
informative technical programs for theirmembers.
• Increase the educational awareness of thePES general membership on a variety oftopics with perspectives ranging fromresearch to the practical application oftechnology.
How does the DLP work? (1)• The DLP committee administers the program.• The DLP request has to be initiated from PES
chapter(s).• PES has prepared a list of distinguished
lecturers recommended by various entities ofPES for presentations on topics of interest toPES Chapters.
• PES Chapter identifies a potential lecturer andtopic that will interest local PES members.
How does the DLP work? (2)• The Chapter(s) need(s) to work together with
the distinguished lecturer to setup the topic/date(s) BEFORE the request is submitted.
• A student branch needs to work with its local PES Chapter to submit a request.
• PES encourages neighboring Chapters to coordinate their request. This allows more Chapters to benefit from the same trip.
5
How does the DLP work? (3)• International DLP requests need to be
submitted three months in advance of the proposed visit.
• For international travel, PES strongly encourages the Chapter to work with their CR/RR to coordinate additional countries / Chapters in the visit to make the DL Program more cost effective.
6
How does the DLP work? (4)• The DLP might support conferences that are
sponsored by PES and local PES chapter is involved. The DLP committee will examine the request on a case by case basis.
• The maximum funding support is $2,500.
