DEAR DELEGATES, SPEAKERS AND SPONSORS

Welcome to Queen’s Business Forum on the Fashion Industry’s 11th Anniversary Conference! QBFFI is a premier student-run conference that celebrates the rapidly evolving fashion and retail industry from a business perspective. Being the first of its kind in Canada, it is the leading event to promote the business strategies used and the opportunities available to young business students interested in fashion and retail.

To keep up with the continuously changing trends in the retail market, QBFFI challenges and prepares delegates to think critically and propose business ideas through a variety of interactive activities. From lively panel discussions to workshops that require imaginative applications of business knowledge, QBFFI’s focus is the trends revolutionizing the retail industry, and we are excited to explore the business behind the global fashion market.

It is our goal at QBFFI to prepare and inspire our delegates to plunge into the creative and corporate aspects of the retail world. Our mission is to inspire students to learn more about the industry by networking with industry speakers and sponsors, and meeting other delegates from across Canada who share the same passion. Delegates can look forward to industry-savvy speakers, round table discussions, a retail case competition, memorable evening socials, and of course, our grand finale fashion showcase.

Our theme this year is “Breaking Down Barriers: The World of Retail”. Through exploring the multi-faceted opportunities within the evolving retail world, we hope to educate our business-savvy attendees on what it takes to become successful in an industry that they are passionate about.

We hope you enjoy this weekend!

BEST REGARDS,

CAROLYN & SAMANTHA

Adrian Wu is a fashion and clothing designer based out of Toronto. Adrian founded his company at 19 years old adrianwu.com which is now mingbong.com. It all started with a simple cocktail dress, which evolved into a career surrounding the discussion “what is normal?” Discovered on Facebook his work has been presented across the country from the National Gallery to Toronto Fashion Week. Going from a simple dress maker to doing corporate collaborations with Freed Development or authors like Margaret Atwood - The reoccurring challenge has always been “How can beauty and function co-exist?”. Wu’s work has always been an evolution and the focus of his work now revolves coming up with solutions for the question; how can fashion help people live better lives. Adrian thinks it starts with properly integrating lifestyle branding, self manufacturing and ecommerce into your fashion/clothing company using technology that speaks to all genders.
