From the Principal
Education Week
The theme for this year’s Education Week is Learning Together. What an incredibly apt theme for the year we have had in 2020. The SPS students, staff and community have certainly embraced learning together throughout these unprecedented times. We have navigated the world of on-line learning, Zoom, Seesaw and a diverse avenue of technology to ensure we have continued to access and provide the best opportunities for learning, connection and communication we possibly can while physically distancing. Our students continue to learn together at school each day and offer support, encouragement and assistance to one another to learn from new concepts and face challenges with enthusiasm, bravery, resilience, perseverance and vigour. Our staff continue to undertake their professional learning through virtual platforms in their efforts to ensure they are accessing and providing the best for our students. Our community has continued to meet via Zoom to remain up to date with school operations and tentatively plan activities and events for our students.
Congratulations to the 2020 Education Week award recipients:-
Kiss n Drop safety
A reminder that when parents/carers are using Kiss and Go drop off each morning, please be on the correct side of the road, do not perform any u-turns in this area and do not ask children to cross the road on their own as this is not safe.

Cancellation of Excursions - Year 3 and 4
The Year 3 Outdoor Experience and Year 4 Sydney overnight excursions for 2020 have been cancelled.
This is not a decision that we have taken lightly but due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID19 and the changing restrictions, we believe this is the best option at this time.
We thank you for your understanding.
School App Updates
Those parents/carers using the school SZApp on an iPhone may have noticed that the notifications from the school have intermittently not been pushed through. An update is available in the App Store which should correct this issue.
Parent/Teacher Interviews
This year we will be using School Interviews which is the same online booking system for Parent/Teacher interviews that we used last year. The system is quick and very easy to use, providing you with an email confirmation of your booking.
Interviews will be conducted over the next few weeks, with teachers providing timeslots for parents to book in. Teachers will be relieved from class on the following days:-
Wednesday, 5 August - Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2)
Tuesday, 4 August - 7B
Thursday, 6 August - Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4).
All of the Parent/Teacher Interviews in 2020 will be conducted either via Zoom or over the phone. Bookings have now closed for the interviews, you will need to contact your teacher directly for scheduling.
The aim of the interviews is to provide an update on student achievement and identify areas and strategies for improvement.
Kindergarten 2021
Is it becoming time for your child to commence their school education?
The school is now able to register names of all 2021 Kindergarten students. If you would like to start your child at school next year, please contact the school office to record your interest. Full details of information evenings, transition days and enrolments forms have been sent out to all names currently on the school’s register.
Upcoming dates of excursions
Planned dates for the major 2020 excursions are:
Year 5 Aussie Bush - Wednesday, 2 December to Friday, 4 December
Year 6 Canberra - Monday, 23 November to Friday, 27 November
However PLEASE BE AWARE that due to the current circumstances with COVID-19 and the Department of Education restrictions these may have to be cancelled and/or postponed.
We will endeavour to get information to parents as soon as we are able to so that payments can start to be made.
