Chaplaincy Notices November is the month of remembrance in the Catholic church and we pray in a particular way for those who have died in our families and our communities. Remembrance Year 9 Mass of Remembrance - Wednesday 6th November (Period 3) A Mass of Remembrance will be held in the school hall on Wednesday 6th November in advance of the celebration of Armistice Day in order to remember service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice with their lives in World Wars and conflicts past and present. Advent Sacrament of Reconciliation Services of Reconciliation will be running throughout the day in Chapel between 4th November - 12th November and pupils will be offered the opportunity of receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation in full preparation for Christmas. If you choose to receive the Sacrament you will be given a permit to release you from class. The Sacrament will be held on Thursday (P1 - P3) 7th & 14th November (09:30 - 12:25pm) or on Wednesday (P3 - P5) 13th November from 11.00am - 3.15pm. Please try your best to keep as quiet as possible if you are passing the Chapel at these times as it is important to maintain a prayerful atmosphere and to respect the privacy of those wishing to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Reverse Advent Calendar for Parcel Liturgies At Saint Bede's, we recognise that Christmas is a crisis point for families in poverty, so each form group collects food and toiletries throughout November to create Christmas Hampers which are sent to homeless hostels in the area and to Fylde Foodbank. Lists of suggested items will be circulated via form tutors and pupils choose to bring in items from the list on a day of their choice. Donations will close on the morning of 6th December when the hampers will be blessed by Father David during our liturgies before they are collected by representatives from SVP (St. Peter's and St. Joseph's), Vincent House, St. Cuthbert's Family Centre, Harbour House, Street Life and Fylde Foodbank. Please be as generous as you can.

the question mark.

For the 7th Numeracy Challenge of the year there were 344 entries. You

needed to find the proportion the workers spent at their desk in a similar

way, such as a percentage. Joe Dickinson, from 9 Beesley, was the

lucky winner from the correct entries this time.

To enter the Weekly Numeracy Challenge, fill in an entry slip, and place into one of the Numeracy Challenge boxes, in Mr Binns’ classroom or the SLC.

General Notices Remembrance: During this week, we will join the country in remembering and honouring those who have sacrificed themselves to secure and protect our freedom with Sunday, 10th November being the day when the nation comes together through services and ceremonies to 'remember'. Year 9 will participate in the annual Mass of Remembrance on Wednesday, 6th November during period three. Poppies will be on sale in school during the week with pupils from 10BA selling them during registration and lunchtimes . It would be good to see the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal particularly well supported by Year 9 pupils wearing them for the Mass. Mass of Remembrance: During period three on Wednesday, 7th November, Year 9 will be attending the Mass of Remembrance in the hall. Please report to your form rooms at the start of period two where you will leave bags and belongings before being escorted to the hall in silence by your form tutors. During this time, there should be no pupil movement in school with all pupils to remain in form bases. Act of Remembrance: On Friday, 9th November at 11:00 am, we will observe a period of silence to remember all those who have died in conflict. A bell will ring at the start and end of this period of time which should be observed with great respect for those who have given us so much.

Mr. Grice

I hope that you have all enjoyed the half-term break and are refreshed for what will be a busy and enjoyable half-term.
