Grade 3/4 camp Queenscliff

Last week we were so lucky to go to camp. Although the weather was raining on Wednesday it certainly didn’t dampen the students’ excitement and enthusiasm. The students visited the Marine Discovery Centre, played sponge dodgeball, went swimming, visited Point Lonsdale lighthouse, built sand castles and played initiative games.

Many thanks to families in getting notes back so quickly to help with planning, to staff who gave up their nights with family, to Cottage staff who are amazing and to our students who made the most of every opportunity.

Sovereign Hill excursion 5/6 Thursday 11th November

A reminder to parents and carers to return the permission form and money for the excursion to Sovereign Hill, Thursday 11th November, as soon as possible.

Students will need to bring two drinks, a snack and lunch for the day, preferably in disposable packaging. Students are required to wear school uniform for this excursion and in line with our School’s SunSmart Policy they will need to wear a hat. Students will not need any spending money for the day.

Swimming Program

Please return notes and payment $21 to the office. Families with CSEF can contact the office to use this to pay the $21. As our swimming program clashes with the state wide transition day Tuesday 7th December we are looking at possible alternatives.

Attendance

The school is aware that many families are receiving different messages around staying at home and isolating. We have checked with Department of Health guidelines and can confirm that:

Only people that are Primary Close Contacts (PCC’s) – that is those that have come directly in contact with someone that has a confirmed positive case of COVID19 need to isolate. Families/households of PCCs will no longer be re-quired to limit their movements or stay at home. This means that school students who have had not had di-rect contact are expected to attend school. All teachers are back onsite teaching face-to-face so it is not an expectation to provide work for those students at home.

Smalltalk Playgroup

The playgroup that was held in the library each Wednesday is now meeting at Canterbury Park 9.30-11am. They meet near the skate park, where they have the gardens. Everyone is welcome! If you would like to know more information, or needing help to find them on Wednesday, please contact Ashleigh on 0427 630 823.

Plans for 2022

In the next few weeks, we will begin to look at class structures for 2022. If you know of anyone with children at pre-school, please encourage them to look at the school’s web page and make contact with the school. If your child will not be attending Eaglehawk Primary next year, please contact your child’s teacher or the office as soon as possible.

Reading Awards:

Evan Mchale 266 nights

Takara Walsh 286 nights

Vaccination requirements for parents and carers attending schools

Any visitor or volunteers performing work in school (including parent helpers, NDIS providers, volunteers, contractors and incursion providers) are required to have had their first dose by 25th October and be fully vaccinated by 29 November (unless a medical exemption applies) to attend on site. All visitors will be required to verify their vaccination status at the office.

All parents and carers attending schools, including for drop off and pick up must also adhere to physical distancing, density limits, face mask requirements and practise good respiratory and hand hygiene.

Parents and carers who enter school buildings must check in using the QR code.

Parents and carers attending any event or activity inside a school building including, but not limited to tours, graduations, kindergarten transition, whole of school events are required to show evi-dence of vaccination.

Meetings and other discussions (such as Student Support Group meetings) with parents and carers who do not meet vaccination requirements should be held virtually. Parents and carers attending school sites for drop off and pick up who do not enter school buildings do not need to comply with vaccination requirements.

Department of Education’s Operations Guide has provided some good news for some of our most important Term 4 events. All schools will be able to recommence a range of activities, consistent with community settings and school vaccination requirements. Based on the current advice, we will be able to proceed with many of our onsite transition programs for our Kinder students beginning Foundation in 2022 and for our Grade 6 students transitioning into Year 7 in 2022. Interschool activities can also resume, as well as incursions and excursions.

.

Reminders

-As per Department of Education guidelines all grades 3-6 students are required to wear facemasks inside

-Please return all books and learning when your child is onsite. Many items haven’t returned from the week be-fore the holidays. Teachers use previous work to help plan for students.
