With these b lessings, our Pastor and Principal have worked tirelessly this summer to make these enhancements to our school:   The entire sc hool interio r was painted;  New windows were installed throughout the school;  Outdoor concrete basketball full court installed;  New tile floor installed in Pre-K building;  New STAR Learning Center installed in family center.  As we begin another school year, a few changes have been made in the parish as we ll. Our school mass f or the children will now be held at 11:00 a.m. on  Wednesdays. We also have a new music teacher starting this year, and we are all very excited to get to know her.  We hope that, with your help, we may continue to grow and thrive as a community, parish and school.  A Word from t he PTO From Mark Wiese, PTO President  Welcome back to school everyone! The Sacred Heart Catholic School PTO has been working hard over the summer to brainstorm ways to make the school year a success for everyone. First off, I'd like to express our thanks to the outgoing PTO volunt eers. They work ed tirelessly f or a few ye ars and have helped carry the torch of finding ways to sustain the incredible generosity of our parishioners, parents, and the local community. For this new school year, the team of parents involved in the PTO have collectively committed to continuing that tradition, while also  working to SHIFT the culture of how the school, parish, and PTO work t ogether. We hope to ma ke some strides, one step at a time, towards this paradigm shift in how each and every one of you view Sacred Heart Catholic School, not just as a great school, but a great integrated family.  This newsletter is a start. We are working to release it monthly in order to keep you abreast of things in the  works, upcoming events, where we need your help, and how to get involved. I'd like to leave you with the PTO's newly developed  Vision, Mission, & Values. These together describe the governing principles that we are working towards in order to enable the integrated Sacred Heart Family to SHIFT the culture for the greater good of our children. Vision: Enabling the excellence of Sacred Heart Catholic School through 1st class parent involvement that strengthens our children, school, & commu nity. Mission: Independently, the Sacred Heart School PTO, in harmony with the School & Parish, will establish the planning, teamwork, and communication necessary to foster an environment of service, faith, and belonging in our families.

First General PTO Meeting

Plan to attend the first General PTO Meeting -

 Wednesday, September 25th, 2013. 

 The PTO is hoping to have pizza and childcare to makethis meeting easier on you. The tentative agenda is asfollows:

   Welcome/IntroSHIFT-ing our focus

  Schedule of Planned Events  Financial Summary    Volunteer Incentive Plan (VIP) Overview   How to get involved

Catholic Schools NightPTO will have free shirts to distribute to the first 50families in attendance at the game, so arrive early and look for your peers in order to find your free shirt (1 per family 

please). You may also call ahead to purchase tickets. Besure to mention “Catholic Schools Night”.

 Along with all of the other exciting changes taking place inour school this year, the PTO is proud to announce thearrival of its new spirit-wear, which will include our new

school logo!! T-shirts will be available soon, with hats, visors, pens, pencils, drawstring backpacks, polo shirts,lanyards and car decals to follow. Purchase yours at theMeet the Teacher Event on August 21, 2013 or at the frontoffice anytime after that date. 

Hollywood Glitz & Glamour

 We would like to extend a Special VIP Invitation toeach and every parent to join us for our Annual Award

 Winning Open House/ Meet the Teacher Night on August 21st @ 6:00 p.m. We will meet in theSocial Hall and roll out the red carpet for our Leading Stars, The Teachers of SHCS.

PTO will present their exciting block buster hit for2013 - 2014. There will be casting calls for parents to

take part in the activities coming up. Mark yourcalendar for this Exciting Event!

Be a VIP!For this new school year the PTO will soon be rolling out a new program that will replace the previous

m and atory 20 service hours per family requirement.

 The Volunteer Incentive Plan (VIP) is being implemented for the 2013/2014 school year and isdesigned to encourage greater parent participation inschool, PTO, and Parish sponsored functions, helping to assure the SHS community exceeds goals andembraces the vision, mission, and values of the SacredHeart Catholic School PTO.

 The V IP recognizes families each time they Volunteer to support a Sacred Heart Catholic School managed orsponsored event. Recognition will be captured in PTOnewsletters, and each time a family member volunteersthey will be eligible for future recognition that may include gift cards, classroom parties, and evendiscounts on student tuition at Sacred Heart School.Exact details and recognition specifics are still being finalized, and the final approved plan will be rolled outat the September General PTO meeting.

SHCS Bingo 

 VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED when Bingoresumes on Mondays, starting September 9th. Doorsopen at 5pm - 6:30 early bird games.

Proceeds from Bingo go directly to SHCS. Last year,Bingo was a tremendous success. Please help us keep itsuccessful. Please consider volunteering or make a oncea month donation of baked goods or other food itemsfor the kitchen to help. Call Ella at 428–6426. 

Room Moms are encouraged to help organize a show of support from your classroom's parents in the following months:

PK - January K - February 1 – March 5 - September2 - April 6 - October3 – May 7 - November4 – June 8 - December 

 Annual Magazine Sale Kickoff

The PTO is proud to have sponsored SHCS teachers to

attend the Common Core Conference in Orlando this 

summer. We hope to be able to continue to support our 

wonderful teachers throughout the school year.

Sacred Heart Parish andSchool Fall Festival

Please join us on October 5, 2013 for afun-filled day to celebrate the fall season.

 There will be bouncy house, face

painting, baked goods and snacks,games, hay rides and much more.

Nothing proves the loving spirit of ourschool more than showing kindness and

 warmth to our new families. Carrie Stepp,our New Families Coordinator, along withour Principal and students, did a great job

doing just that on August 12, 2013.
