In fact, Okla- homa ranks third in the U.S. for heart disease. Recent reports have shown that the rising costs of the prescriptions taken monthly to treat this chronic ailment have become too high for many people, even for those individuals with health insurance. To help address this issue, partners Regional and Watertree Health have introduced tools to help Oklahomans re- ceive affordable heart medications via the GPS Rx-price-lookup-tool and a text code to immedi- ately receive a free Pre- scription Discount Card. As an added benefit, every time a person saves using this special card benefitting the Re- gional Food Bank, Wa- tertree Health makes a donation to the organi- zation to help fight hunger in their local areas. “One in six Okla- homans struggles with hunger every day,” said Rodney Bivens, execu- tive director of the Re- gional Food Bank of Ok- lahoma. “This partner- ship with Watertree Health is a win-win. By using the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma Pre- scription Discount Card, people in Oklahoma are saving money and help- ing feed chronically hun- gry children, struggling seniors and families in their local communities. To date, more than 260,000 meals have been provided through this partnership.” Watertree Health in- troduced GPS to help people easily find the most up-to-date dis- counted prices on their prescriptions using the card, at pharmacies close to them - wtree.us/savingstool/FE EDOK. By using the free Prescription Dis- count Card, Okla- homans can save as much as 82 percent off the full retail price for Diovan and Simvas- tatin, two of the medica- tions regularly pre- scribed to treat high blood pressure and high cholesterol, respectively.
