‘time to reflect’ Mar 10:31  But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

• We have had time to reflect on life .. this verse shows how the Lord measures our hearts

the first will be last • prominence because of

wealth is seen in the world and can find its way into the church

• prominence because of church positions comes with an assumption of godliness

• prominence of evangelical celebrity is simply wrong

• prominence because of our reputation with men does not carry weight with God

• prominence because of popularity is very powerful, but being liked by men is not the same as being loved by God

• prominence because of eloquence and a way with words is of little worth with God who sees the heart

• prominence because of head knowledge is not as valued as heart knowledge

the last will be first • now this is a very different way

to assess our hearts

• the worth of a heart full of the gospel - this is key

• the worth of humility cannot be emphasised enough

• the worth of faithfulness has to be mentioned

• the worth of holiness within the heart - this is an essential

• the worth of inward grace and tenderness of heart is something we often see in the Word of God

• the worth of devotion and a burning heart indicates much

• the worth of a sacrifical heart has much value with the Lord
