interior designer or decorator to work directly with the artists to produce pieces fully adapted to the conceptual needs of each project.

The development of the projects is divided into various phases in which the artist investigates how to adapt the ideas and explores different media for bringing them to fruition. The goal is always clear: transpose and translate concepts.

The work of the Atelier helps capture the imagined design and make it a reality, turning a bland and impersonal space into something unique and differentiating.

Bathco Atelier is a unique initiative, a studio for creation and experimentation that combines ceramic manufacturing and art. In this context, a group of visual artists develop ideas and research new materials and procedures, creating exclusive lines of hand-decorated washbasins and ceramic murals.

At the Atelier, the artists work with a wide range of media to create and decorate ceramic pieces. Computer-aided design, casting, traditional ceramic painting and photomechanical screen printing techniques are just some of them.

En este contexto un grupo de artistas visuales desarrollan ideas e investigan en torno a nuevos materiales y procedimientos creando líneas exclusivas de lavabos y murales cerámicos decorados a mano.

En el Atelier los artistas operan con un amplio espectro de medios para la creación y decoración de piezas cerámicas. El diseño con softwares informáticos, la creación de moldes, los procedimientos tradicionales de pintura cerámica y la serigrafía fotomecánica son sólo algunos de ellos.

Una de las líneas de trabajo más destacables dentro del taller, son los proyectos ad hoc. El Atelier invita al arquitecto, interiorista o decorador a trabajar directamente con los artistas para producir piezas totalmente adaptadas a las necesidades conceptuales de cada proyecto.

El desarrollo de los proyectos se divide en varias fases, donde el artista indaga la forma de adecuar las ideas y explora distintos medios para la materialización de las mismas. El objetivo es siempre claro, trasladar y traducir conceptos.

El trabajo del Atelier ayuda a plasmar y hacer realidad un diseño soñado, convirtiendo un lugar anodino e impersonal en un espacio propio y diferenciador.

Trazos que dibujan a mano alzada la corriente marina

Una clienta particular deseaba una composición marina que vistiese el baño de su piso situado en la zona de Valdenoja (Santander). Para cubrir el espacio de singularidad se desarrolló un conjunto de mural y lavabo. Las largas ondas del mural fluyen a través del lavabo, los peces pintados igualmente a mano aportan un aire fresco y divertido. La composición destaca por su serenidad y su movimiento.

La naturaleza suele ser un elemento muy inspirador y, más en concreto, el mar se convierte en un paisaje muy recurrente a la hora de decorar espacios. Desde manchas que simulan las ondas del agua pasando por la representación de peces, corales y caracolas. Gracias a esto el océano puede colarse en nuestros espacios.

The sea in the homeLines that sketch the movements of the sea with a freehand technique.

Residence – SantanderHand-painted mural and Sicilia washbasin.

A private client wanted a maritime composition to decorate the bathroom of their apartment located in the Valdenoja district (Santander). To inundate the space with uniqueness, a design was developed using a matching mural and washbasin. The large waves of the mural, spanning nearly three metres, flow through the bathroom. The hand-painted fish add freshness and a sense of fun. The composition stands out for its serenity and movement.

Nature, and more specifically the sea, tends to be a very inspiring element that serves as a very recurrent landscape when it comes to decorating spaces. From washes of colour that simulate the waves of the water to representations of fish, coral and snails. Thanks to this, the ocean can infiltrate our spaces.

El mar como referencia para decorar un hogar

Terraza en la Costa BravaResidencia – GironaComposición que auna pintura centrada en los azules y volumen en porcelana inspirado en el Mediterráneo.

La interiorista Teresa Casas, encargada de la adecuación de la terraza de una vivienda particular ubicada en el centro de una población de la Costa Brava comenta que “No es una edificación actual sino que se trata de una casa antigua pero con solera. La terraza estaba prácticamente en desuso pues no se contemplaba como un espacio para su disfrute. Pensamos que sería importante recuperar este espacio en las horas de sol de las estaciones del año que no son las más calurosas”.

Cecilio Espejo y María Centeno son los artistas del Atelier de Bathco que han

trabajado junto al equipo de Teresa Casas en este proyecto. A la hora de concebir el proyecto, se tuvieron en cuenta diferentes aspectos como el entorno de la edificación o el mobiliario: el color de las sillas o el estampado de los cojines. Al encontrarse en una localidad de la costa, los referentes al mar y al litoral no podían obviarse. Se trató de dar una nota de referencia al lugar, de personalización, exclusividad y de manifestación artística, que a la vez transmitiese el valor de lo artesanal.

The interiorist Teresa Casas has renovated the terrace of a private home on the Costa Brava and she has commented that “It was not new construction but rather an old house, one with character. The terrace was practically unused, as it was not considered a space to be enjoyed. We thought it was important to recover space during the day in the coldest months of the year.”

Cecilio Espejo and María Centeno are the Bathco Atelier artists who worked with Teresa Casas’s team on this project. When the project was conceived, different aspects were considered such as the surroundings or the furniture: the colour of the chairs or the pattern of the textils. The building was in a town on the coast then,

the references to the sea and the coast couldn’t be left out. The Atelier mural adds a reference to place of personalisation, exclusivity and of artistic expression, that would at the same time also transmit the value of craftsmanship.

Aleteos y brillos que plasmanla personalidad del propietario

Aleteos infinitosResidencia – Puente Arce, CantabriaLavabo decorado con calcas cerámicas e incrustaciones de Swarovski.

Carmen González, directora creativa de Studio SanFernando, comenta que este proyecto les emocionó de manera especial. Se trataba de decorar un aseo con un espacio reducido y dotarlo de vida.

Fue un reto para ellos por el tamaño y porque después de conocer a su propietario quisieron impregnar por cada rincón de la casa un poco de su personalidad. Por eso Studio SanFernando contó con Bathco Atelier para convertir sus sueños en realidad.

La sensación de abrir el grifo y que el agua fluya por el brillo de los cristales de Swarosvski del lavabo Toulouse hace que sea un espacio muy especial.

Infinite flutteringFlutters and glimmers express the personality of the owner.

Carmen González, the creative director of Studio San Fernando, remarks that she found this project especially exciting. The goal was to decorate a small lavatory and to give it life.

It was a challenge for them for the size and because, after meeting the owner, they wanted to impregnate every corner of the house with a little bit of his personality. So Studio San Fernando relied on Bathco Atelier to make his dreams a reality.

The sensation of turning on the tap and seeing the water stream over the glimmering Swarovski crystals of the Toulouse washbasin make it a very unique space.

Un norte muy vanguardistaFeria de arte – SantanderUn mural monocromático que se vistió con dos lavabos a juego elaborados mediante la técnica del esgrafiado.

Bathco estuvo presente en Arte Santander 2016, la feria de arte más importante del norte de España, a través de las obras de Bathco Atelier. Se ambientó y diseñó la zona vip de la exposición que sirvió como punto de reunión y encuentro para galeristas, artistas y visitantes.

La artista María Centeno empleó la técnica del esgrafiado permitiéndole dibujar directamente sobre la superficie previamente cubierta de pigmento. El

dibujo fue resultado de un trabajo incierto y arriesgado. Una composición única para un espacio elevado y vanguardista.

Este proyecto permitió la total libertad de ejecución a la artista, que plasmó su esencia en una vorágine de formas orgánicas y aleatorias.

Bathco was present at Arte Santander 2016, the most important art fair in northern Spain, through the works of Bathco Atelier. The VIP zone of the exhibition, which served as a meeting point and crossroads for gallery owners, artists and visitors, was designed and decorated.

The artist María Centeno used the technique of sgraffito, which allowed her to draw directly on a surface previously covered with pigment. The drawing was the result of an uncertain and risky work. A unique composition for a high-profile and avant garde space.

This project allowed the artist total freedom in execution, and she expressed its essence in a jumble of organic and random forms.


Encontramos la esencia añeja en un lugar emblemático

Hacienda del CardenalHotel – Toledo Lavabo pintado a mano en tonos terrosos representando la portada al recinto que destaca por su historia y antigüedad.

En uno de los lugares más privilegiados de la ciudad de Toledo se encuentra la Hacienda del Cardenal, próxima a todos los lugares de interés y asentada en uno de los entornos más bellos.

La construcción fue levantada como “Quinta” de recreo y fue restaurada por el Cardenal Lorenzana a finales del siglo XVIII convirtiéndolo en lo que fue un palacio toledano de la época, que hoy se ha convertido en hotel.

Para realizar este trabajo de personalización, los artistas se fijaron en el zaguán coronado con el escudo familiar

Lorenzana que alberga la recepción del hotel y da paso a un recibidor con techo de madera al uso en la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII.

También les inspiraron los pasillos vestidos con caminos de sisal, las ventanas imitando el lacado popular en blanco y el estilo decorativo de la barandilla del siglo XVI, así como el corte neoclásico del salón social donde se pueden encontrar sillones de cordobán.

The Hacienda del Cardenal is found in one of the most privileged locations in the city of Toledo, close to all the places of interest and built in one of its loveliest settings.

The building was constructed as a “Quinta” (country estate) for leisure and was renovated by Cardinal Lorenzana in the late 18th century to transform it into a Toledan palace of the era.To carry out this work of personalisation, the artists focused on the entranceway, crowned with the Lorenzana family crest, which serves as the hotel’s reception area and gives way to a foyer with a wooden ceiling typical of the second half of the 18th century.

They were also inspired by the halls with their sisal walkways, the windows that imitate the popular lacquer finish in white, and the decorative style of the 16th century bannister, as well as the Neoclassical style of the social parlour furnished with Cordovan chairs.

Un puzle de texturas inspirado en las antiguas carnicerías

Gaucho del puertoRestaurante – SantanderMural realizado en diversas texturas y colores. Las máculas generadas se lograron gracias al uso de distintos tipos de pinceles, pinceletas japonesas, esponjas incluso plásticos.

El pasado año abrió en Santander un restaurante especializado en carne argentina. A través de este espacio, su dueño quería transmitir las propiedades de la carne argentina que tanta fama tiene a nivel mundial. Un aspecto tradicional unido al ambiente típico de las carnicerías de toda la vida fueron los aspectos que sirvieron de inspiración para crear un mural auténtico.

Los artistas estudiaron la manera de traducir al lenguaje pictórico-cerámico

aquella representación. La ilustración de una ternera, de carácter y reminiscencias añejas, se compensó con el uso de las texturas y con un soporte de azulejos rectificados de un formato más alargado, que vistió de contemporaneidad la composición. El mural se ha convertido en el foco de atención del espacio, además de ser la imagen gráfica del restaurante.

Gaucho del puertoA jigsaw of textures inspired by old-fashioned butcher shops

Restaurant – SantanderThe artists used different types of brushes, Japanese bamboo brushes, sponges, and even plastic ones to create this wall.

Last year a restaurant specialising in Argentine meats opened in Santander. Through this space, the owner wanted to transmit, the qualities of world-famous Argentine meat. A traditional aspect combined with the typical atmosphere of old-fashioned butcher shops were the inspiration to create a unique mural.

To represent this pictorial-ceramic language, the artists opted to propose a drawing of a steer in the style of a jigsaw puzzle. Black pigment was used to outline all the animal’s contours and label each of the parts, alluding to the illustrations that traditionally decorated butcher shops and delicatessens to show the different cuts of meat and the names of each.


Calcas propias para la personalización de espacios

ConesaFábrica – BadajozEl empleo de calcas cerámicas supone un suplemento en la decoración cerámica. En Bathco Atelier se elaboran calcas propias que resultan muy útiles permitiendo la incorporación de textos, logotipos o cualquier otro elemento al diseño.

Conesa es una empresa fundada en 1976 cuya principal actividad es el procesado de tomate. La empresa quería dotar a sus baños con un distintivo, por eso acudieron a Bathco Atelier para personalizar su espacio.

Tres elementos inspiraron a los artistas del taller para abordar este trabajo. El tomate como el elemento sobre el que giran todos los procesos, las plantaciones que exigen grandes extensiones y el logotipo

de la empresa que actúa como elemento diferenciador.

Para este trabajo, los artistas optaron por el empleo de calcas cerámicas que suponen un suplemento en la decoración cerámica.

Factory – BadajozThe use of ceramic decals is a supplemental element in ceramic decoration. At Bathco Atelier custom decals are produced that are very useful in making it possible to include text, logos, or any other design element.

Conesa is a company founded in 1976 whose main activity is tomato processing. The company wanted to give its restrooms a distinctive air, so they asked Bathco to personalise the space.

Three elements inspired the artists at the workshop in their approach to this job: the tomato, the fields that require extensive acreage, and the logo of the company.

For this job, the artists opted to use ceramic decals, which represent a supplemental element in ceramic decoration.


Los cinco continentes en un solo espacio

El proyecto de decoración de estos apartamentos, realizado por la interiorista Yolima Sierra, es capaz de transportar a cada huésped o visitante a un continente diferente en cada una de las estancias. Desde un atardecer en la sabana hasta el ambiente más cosmopolita de la noche neoyorquina está recreado en este proyecto.

Emeric Minaya dotó de personalidad y creatividad los baños de estos apartamentos de lujo situados en el

corazón de la ciudad. Plasmaron la magia y particularidades de cada continente en la zona de los aseos. Colores, texturas y vegetación sirvieron de inspiración en todo el proceso creativo.

Art SuiteApartamentos – SantanderCada uno de estos apartamentos muestra la esencia de uno de los cinco continentes, por ello, se decidió personalizar cada lavabo con imágenes que evocaran elementos característicos de los distintos lugares del planeta.

Art SuiteThe five continents in one space

Apartments – SantanderEach of these apartments contains the essence of one of the five continents, and so the decision was made to personalise each washbasin with images that would evoke characteristic elements of the different parts of the world.

The project of decorating these apartments, under the leadership of the interior designer Yolima Sierra, is capable of transporting each guest or visitor to a different continent in each of the rooms. Everything from a sunset on the savannah to the most cosmopolitan atmosphere of New York at night is recreated in this project.

Emeric Minaya lent personality and creativity to the bathrooms of these luxury apartments located in the heart of the city. They expressed the magic and unique features of each continent in the bathroom area. Colours, textures and vegetation served as inspiration throughout the creative process.


Una vida sobre ruedas aromatizada con café

Bianchicafé & cyclesCafé – MilánLavabos pintados a mano en los que, trazada tras trazada, se dibujan bicicletas históricas.

Bianchi es conocida como una marca italiana histórica centrada en bicicletas de rendimiento que quiso dar un paso más. Quiso fusionar la tienda-taller de biciletas con un espacio de relax y así nació Bianchi Café & Cycles como un espacio especializado en cocina ligera y genuina para disfrutar en cualquier momento del día además de un lugar al que acudir para cualquier consulta del mundo del ciclismo.

Debido a la trayectoria histórica de la marca no se podía perder de vista la bicicleta como hilo conductor de la decoración. Por ello

los artistas de Atelier plasmaron, a través de pinceladas negras sobre lavabos de porcelana blanca, imágenes de bicicletas vintage para mantener vivo el espíritu Bianchi.

Café – MilanHand-painted washbasins in which historic bicycles are depicted in line drawings

Bianchi is known as a historic Italian brand specialising in racing bicycles, and the company wanted to take it one step further. It wanted to combine the bicycle store-repair workshop with a leisure space. And that’s how Bianchi Café & Cycles was born as a space specialising in light and authentic fare for enjoying any time of day, in addition to being a space to visit to find out anything about the world of cycling.

Due to the history of the brand, the bicycle as the unifying element of the decoration could not be overlooked. So the Atelier artists expressed, through black brushstrokes on white porcelain washbasins, images of vintage bicycles to keep the spirit of Bianchi alive.


Ocio y negocio a partes iguales en Oriente Medio

Ocio y negocioCampo de golf – DubaiLavabos pintados a mano que ilustran paisajes de la ciudad

Fueron dos los motivos que inspiraron este trabajo, por un lado, los infinitos campos de golf de un verde vivo y por otro, los paisajes que deja una ciudad que se eleva por su empeño de ser ejemplo de arquitectura a nivel mundial.

La línea en sus diferentes acepciones fue el hilo conductor de este trabajo. La línea como horizonte de los campos de golf y la línea del skyline de la ciudad. Así quedan reflejados dos ámbitos muy marcados en Dubai, el ocio

y los negocios. A pesar de ser dos conceptos contrapuestos, se funden en una ciudad que nació para comercializar desde que solo era desierto hasta ahora que es referente de arquitectura.

Golf course – DubaiHand-painted washbasins depicting the cityscape

There were two motifs that inspired this work. On the one hand, the endless, bright green golf courses and, on the other, the landscapes that a city creates when its ambition is to be an example of world-class architecture.

The line with its different interpretations was the unifying element in this work. The line of the horizon of the golf courses and the line of the city skyline. That’s how two markedly different atmospheres in Dubai are reflected: leisure and business. Despite being opposing concepts, they come together in a city that was born for doing business, from when it was just a desert to today that it is an architectural landmark.

Una semana festiva y musicaljunto a la bahía

Música en grandeFestival – SantanderMural y lavabos pintados a mano y decorados con figuras de porcelana y calcas cerámicas.

Bathco estuvo presente en la novena edición de “Música en Grande”, un evento musical de referencia en el norte de España que se ce-lebra en la Campa de La Magdalena durante una semana en la ciudad de Santander.

Bathco habilitó la zona de aseos de la zona VIP con un mural acompañado de dos lavabos decorados con motivos marinos que bailaron al son de los grupos más populares del momento.

El cartel del festival sirvió de inspiración para este trabajo lleno de algas marinas, esponjas y estrellas de mar modeladas en porcelana y colocadas sobre azulejo. Centrado entre los dos espejos, se colocó el logotipo del evento gracias a calcas cerámicas aplicadas por los artistas del taller.

Música en grandeA festive and musical week next to the bay.

Festival – SantanderMural and washbasins painted by hand and decorated with porcelain figures and ceramic decals.

Bathco was present at the ninth edition of “Música en Grande”, a leading musical event in northern Spain that is held in the Campa de La Magdalena for one week in the city of Santander.

Bathco outfitted the restroom area of the VIP zone with a mural accompanied by two washbasins decorated with sea motifs dancing to the music of the most popular groups of the moment.

The festival poster served as inspiration for this work filled with sea algae, sponges and starfish moulded in porcelain and applied to the tiles. Centred between the two mirrors that were hung, the logo of the event was placed using ceramic decals applied by the Atelier’s artists.


El mundo animal en el ambiente más natural posible

CabárcenoParque de la Naturaleza – Obregón, CantabriaLavabos de porcelana y azulejos pintados a mano.

El Parque de la Naturaleza de Cabárceno no es un zoológico convencional ni un parque natural. Es un espacio naturalizado por la mano del hombre, a partir de la belleza primitiva de su paisaje kárstico, sobre las 750 hectáreas de una antigua explotación minera a cielo abierto.

El objetivo de Emeric Minaya con esta propuesta fue que la experiencia de los visitantes se extendiese a cada uno de los rincones del recinto y para ello hizo que los animales apareciesen en los lavabos y en el azulejado de los baños.

The Cabárceno Nature Park is no conventional zoo, nor is it a nature park. It’s a space made natural by humans, working with the primitive beauty of its karst landscape, on the 750 hectares of a former open-pit mining operation.

The objective of Emeric Minaya artists when approached this proposal was for the visitors’ experience to extend to every corner of the site, and so he made the animals appear on the washbasins and the tiling in the restrooms.

Captar el ajetreo en un instante

New York, New YorkInstalaciones de Bathco – SantanderMural realizado con calcas cerámicas.

Los artistas de Atelier diseñan ilustraciones que se adaptan a lo que pide el espacio a decorar, este diseño se imprime en calcas vitrificables y se aplica en los azulejos cerámicos de forma manual cuidando cada detalle para lograr un acabado depurado. Tras un proceso de horneado a alta temperatura, el mural está listo para instalarse sobre cualquier superficie.

En este caso se escogió una imagen de Nueva York, característica por el asfalto y el cristal de los rascacielos, el amarillo de los taxis y el reflejo de una vida ajetreada.

The Atelier artists create illustrations that adapt themselves to the space being decorated; this design is printed on vitreous decals and meticulously applied to the ceramic tiles by hand to achieve a refined finish. Following a high-temperature firing process, the mural is ready to be installed on any surface.

In this case, the image chosen was of New York, known for its asphalt and glass skyscrapers, the yellow of its taxis and the reflection of a bustling life
