Club LevelFocusingonthefourcharacteristics–Sportsmanship,Teamspirit,AchievementandResponsibility–Clubsrecognizemembersonaweeklyandmonthlybasis.Prominentlydisplayandusetherecognitionposterenclosedinthispackettohonormembersthroughouttheyear.Clubsmayrecognizemorethanonememberpercharacteristic.UnitseachselectoneoverallMLB®S.T.A.R.,amemberwhobestexemplifiesthefourcharac-teristicsconsistentlyforherorhisunit,andrewardsherorhimwithaMLB®S.T.A.R.AwardCertificateofRecognition.

Organization LevelClubwinnersmustcompletethenominationapplicationandsub-mitthemtotheirorganization.TheorganizationselectsoneoverallMLB®S.T.A.R.Awardwinner.Theorganization-levelawardispresentedtotheoneClubmemberwhobestexemplifiesthefourcharacteristicsconsistently.Recipientsshouldbeatleast10andnomorethan18yearsofagebyJuly31.OrganizationssubmittheapplicationtoBGCAtoreceiveaMLB®S.T.A.R.Awardtrophyandqualifythewinnerforstate,regionalandnationalcompetitions.Or-ganizationswillreceivetheirtrophysixto10weeksaftersubmis-sionoftheapplication(pleaseplanaccordingly).UsethetrophytocelebratethewinnerinaClub-widepresentationormediaevent.

State LevelOnceapplicationsarereceivedbyBGCA,50statewinnersandonewinnerrepresentingoverseasmilitarysiteswillbeselected.EachstatewinnerreceivesacommemorativeauthenticMLB®item.Statewinnersareeligibleforcompetitionattheregionalandnationallevel.

Regional LevelFrom51finalists,fiveregionalwinners(Midwest,Northeast,Pacific,SoutheastandSouthwest)andoneoverseasmilitarywinnerwillbechosen.ThesixregionalwinnersandtheirchaperoneswillbeinvitedtoattendtheMLB®All-StarGame®inSanFranciscoonJuly10,2007.TheregionalwinnerswillmeettheMLBCommissionerandberecognizednationallyfortheirachievement.

National LevelFromthesixregionalwinners,onenationalwinnerwillbechosentoreceivethegrandprize.ThenationalwinnerandchaperonewillbeinvitedtoattendaMLB®WorldSeries®gameinOctober2007andmeettheMLBCommissioner.AttheWorldSeries,thenationalwinnerwillberecognizedforhisorherachievement.

Major League Baseball® and Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) are proud to present the Major League Baseball® S.T.A.R. Award program for Boys & Girls Clubs to use in recognizing Club members for their participation and achievement in sports, fitness and social recreation programming. Club members will be recognized for their ability to demonstrate the positive behaviors of Sportsmanship, Team spirit, Achievement and Responsibility. Whether on the baseball field, at the swimming pool, in the gamesroom or in the dance studio, it is these attributes that help Club members Succeed The MLB WayTM! All Club members ages 10 to 18 who take part in sports, fitness and social recreation programs are eligible for consideration for this award.
