A. TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPED
1. Developed a technology on Kusmi lac cultivation on Flemingia semialata. Under
this technology, appropriate planting density and insect stress on the Flemingia
semialata were determined. This technology is useful for the farmers who which to
cultivate the lac under intensive farming system. The host plant Flemingia semialata
is a bushy and fast growing plant and can be accommodated many plants on a piece of
land compared to the conventional host plants such kusum or palas. Under irrigated
conditions, the lac farmer can also grow vegetable as intercrops in the semialata
orchard.
2. Under an exploratory trial, determined the inputs (fertilizer dose) and plant
management activities required for the rejuvenation of the palas, Butea monosperma
(potential lac host). Under the trial, an abandoned tree of palas was made usable plant
by providing the plant and root management inputs.
