    Design can be art. Design can be fusion.Design is so simple, that's why it is socomplicated.

    Whether it is the huge Boeing JetAirplanes engine or something as simpleas its wind shield wiper, believe it or not,its the design of the object that makes it

    so intriguing. No doubt every brand allover the world spends so much on thisphenomenon called Design. EvenLeonardo Da Vincis mind bogglingcreations were a fusion of art and scienceand aesthetics and engineering.

    Here at Samavesh U have opportunity to

    put on your designing hats becausecreativity with strategy is what is calledDesign.

    To start with, PROB-O-DESING is a designcontest. Visual appeal can make or breaka brand and this understanding isimportant for the next generation ofengineers. Samavesh urges you to take itup as a challenge. The purpose of thisevent is to give you a flavor of how rovingideas are turned into a finished product inthe industry today. From 3-D computer

    blueprints to a realistic model of theprototype before it is finally sent intoproduction. This is your chance.

    Event format: The event will be held in 2 stages.

    Stage I

    It will be qualification round where participants will face a written quiz competition.

    The questions will mostly compromise AutoCAD or Pro-E (any one).

    Stage II

    The second stage will be on the spot where the participants will be given an object to

    design using AutoCAD or Pro-E.

    Judging Criteria:

    Ergonomics: Important dimensions, position of Gauges, dials, buttons

    should be judiciously decided and shown.

    Aesthetic appeal

    Ease of manufacturing and assembling.

    Participation in both stages is mandatory.

    Maximum of 2 participants per team.

    Judges decision will be final and binding.

    BRIEFING ::

    The finalists will have to present their designs in front of the jury inSamavesh, 08.

    It is going to be a Design and Present event with 2 members/team. Problemstatements could be multidisciplinary and hence proper teaming might be

    crucial. Each team will be given 2 to 3 hours to design (might changedepending on the number of finalists). A computer shall be provided but any

    other requirements (subject to availability and feasibility) should be notifiedwell in advance.

    Rules

    1. Maximum of two members allowed per team.

    2. No outside help will be provided, nor should anyone take anyonesassistance.

    3. Books are allowed in the 2nd round.

    4. Judges' decision is final and binding.

    exquisite flavor of tech! Our aim is to make itthe perfect blend of Engineering theory ("pen-and-paper" engineering) and EngineeringPractice ("hands-on" engineering).

    The event kicks off with a written Quiz roundwith a blend of questions. Around 8 finalistswill be selected from this written round. (Itmay increase depending on the performance in

    the 1st round) The finals will be in held in anoise free environment. The problem may bevery simple and basic, but will require skill,time, thinking and hands-on work.

    The event is an individual event (a part ofsamaves08).
