Principal's Message Majestic Truth!
As the calendar has now turned to another new month, may we all pause and humbly give thanks
for what The Lord continues to be up to in our midst. We remain relatively healthy as a student
body. Our remote learners are sticking with it and doing their best while away from direct contact
with their teachers. And, our staff members are keeping their heads above water in this new normal
of serving students both face to face and remotely at the same time. It's a lot for everyone, for sure!
October is here which means Thanksgiving is nearly here and Christmas is right around the corner!
Please continue to pray for God's provision as "2020" keeps rollin' along. In and through all of the
unique challenges we are all now facing, the good word of the Psalmist offered above forever rings
true. "The name of The Lord is truly majestic in all of the earth!" COVID‐19, coronavirus, virtual
learning, mask debates, election results, and the coming vaccines, no matter their impact in our
lives, pale in comparison to the absolute and eternal majesty of The Triune God, Father, Son, and
Holy Spirit! Majestic Truth! Majestic Truth, Indeed!
Please continue to pray for our country, this city, the church, and the ML community directly, that in
response to what great and majestic things He has done for us in our lives we might grow in love
and service to one another that His Peace, Comfort, Hope, and Joy might envelope us all! How
majestic would that be! Amen!

Spartan Football
Tonight, the Spartan Football Team will be traveling to play Kaukauna High School for a Week 2 match‐up. The game can be viewed via livestream at either of the links below. Be sure to tune in a watch and cheer on our Spartans from the comfort of your own home.

If you plan to attend either session, you must sign up‐walk‐ins will not be guaranteed time to speak with teachers. Sign‐up is easy! COLLEGE BOUND JUNIORS! PSAT/NMSQT exam Thursday, October 29th, 2020 The PSAT exam will be administered at 8 AM in the Cafeteria
Juniors should register for the PSAT in Student Services by Friday, October 23.
Testing is not mandatory, but is strongly encouraged. Please register early, as we have a limited number of exams available this
year. The fee for the PSAT is $17 ‐ please make checks payable to Martin Luther
High School.
Testing will be finished before 11:30 and students will be released to go to First Lunch or period 5A.
AP EXAM REGISTRATION BEGINS MONDAY, 10/5 THROUGH NOVEMBER 9.
Cost: $95 per exam, with a $40 down payment, per exam. Balance due: By March 12. Payment: Credit card through e‐Funds (preferred). Instructions on how to use this
program will be sent to parents through Constant Contact. Cash, check, or money order (made payable to Martin Luther High School) is also accepted in Student Services.
Fee reduction: $42 for students who qualify based on family financial circumstances. Parent must contact Mr. Kirk Langenkamp, AP Coordinator, at [email protected]. Will reduce cost PER EXAM down to $53 exam fee.
Late fee: $40 per exam charged to students enrolled in full year AP courses who register after 11/13 and by 3/12/2021.
o 2/1‐3/8/2021: AP Language exam registration period o Additional details: Students (In‐Person and Remote) will receive more info in their
AP classes during week of 10/5. o Join Code: By 10/9, all students should add themselves to their AP course rosters.
This is done through MyAP.CollegeBoard.org account. Teachers have Join Codes. o Administration: Students are expected to take the exam on the regularly scheduled
College Board exam date. Any requests for late testing, or an alternate date due to athletic contest or school event, should be made well in advance of the regularly schedule exam date.
o AP Pre‐Administration meeting: Will take place in April. Date will be announced in March.

The Getting into the Trades: Youth Career Cluster Chats that WRTP│BIG STEP is
hosting will highlight the various construction skilled trades pathways and what is required for apprenticeship in these crafts. Each session will feature an overview of the identified trades with a chance to hear from representatives working in the industry. We encourage students to sign up for as many or as few sessions that interest them. They can register to receive a recording if the time doesn't work with their school schedule to attend "live." The Zoom registration link can be found through the below links or by going to wrtp.org/events.
THE 2021‐22 FAFSA APPLICATION IS OPEN AS OF 10/1! The FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Seniors planning to attend college and in need of financial aid through the form of grants, work‐study, and loans, will need to have a FAFSA on file. Monthly Virtual Day Calendar Plan for the Balance of the School Year
We will be having seven more "Virtual Days" over the course of the next eight months of the 20‐21 school year. We are conducting these approximately once per month with the hopes that they will provide our students and staff with opportunities to grow and improve in the areas of virtual/remote learning and continue to be nimble should it be necessary for us to switch to a hybrid or full virtual model for school. While we are very pleased with the minimal number of ML students and staff impacted by COVID‐19 to date, we completely recognize that could change drastically and quickly. These "Virtual Days" were planned with the goal of having each of them occur on the first or last day of any given week throughout the year. We were successful in achieving this goal with the exception of one Tuesday in the month of March. That date in March is the one on which half of the student body is already required to engage in national standardized assessments. We have used this as a virtual day in previous years as well. Please also note that we have two virtual days in April. These are two dates on which the 9th and 10th grade students will be in required state standardized testing as well. Like just about everything else related to conducting school in the age of COVID, we may have to change, cancel, and/or alter this plan as events dictate. Please also be reminded that we may find it necessary to employ virtual days due to severe weather cancellations of school. The general rule for us here is that we will go to virtual days on severe weather cancellation days after the first two days of school are cancelled. The total number of severe weather cancellations will be a further factor we will be considering, as we keep our eyes on this calendar of planned virtual days for the rest of the school year. The dates for our planned virtual days for the rest of the year:

Open Cages Students interested in Baseball/Softball can attend open cages on Friday afternoons that school is in session, 3:30‐4:30pm. Students may bring their own bat, glove, helmet if they would like. School bats and helmets are available for use. Oct. 2 and 9 will be outside by the baseball field. October 30, November 13, 20 and December 4, 11 will be in the Upper Gym.

Robotics Team Racine Kringle Fundraiser
The Robotics Team is selling delicious Racine Kringles October 1‐22nd for $10 each. Checks payable to Martin Luther High School. You can place your orders online here...Kringle Orders. Student Shadow Dates Available for any 8th grade student. Shadows are allowed in the building on Wednesday or Friday and must receive a confirmation at least one week prior to the scheduled date. Please complete thisonline form to register for an upcoming shadow date. We have shadows in the building on any Wednesday or Friday that we have school. I will need a week notice and send an email confirmation once a date is finalized. Please know limited spots are available.

We are blessed to gather together for chapel three times each week for chapel! Each of these opportunities is broadcasted out via livestream through the Martin Luther Facebook Page and Facebook Live. Regular attendance at school is viewed to be essential for successful earning of credits at the high school level. The school day (including Student Help Days) should have priority status over outside activities. Messages regarding attendance can be left on the school office voice mail 414‐421‐4000, please hold on the line and you will be connected to the general voice mail system at any time of the day or night. Parents/guardians may, also, notify the office staff in advance for absences, appointments, etc. by sending a note with your student or calling the office. For The Milwaukee County Transit System (MCTS), A maximum of 15 passengers are allowed on a bus at any given time. We will be flexible with students impacted by this. ATTENDANCE REMINDERS:
When a student must miss a school day for an illness, funeral, etc., or will be arriving later in the morning because of an appointment, please remember:
On the day of the absence, parents should call the school office by 9:00 AM. If the school office staff has not been contacted, parents will receive a phone call and email from the office staff. Once we receive a return call from a parent/guardian, the student's absence will be marked as excused. If we do not receive a return phone call/email, the absence will remain as "unexcused truant".
When a student arrives late to school, they must come to the school office (Please ensure your student arrives to school with enough time to get to their lockers and get to class before 8:00a.m.). If a parent/guardian has not contacted the office regarding their student's late arrival, the student's attendance will be marked as "tardy". If a student arrives 20 minutes late, their attendance will be marked as "unexcused truant" unless a parent/guardian has contacted the office.
If a student needs to leave school during the day for any reason, please send a note with the student or call the office by 9:00 AM. Students are then given a pass to leave.
If a student becomes ill during the school day, they must come to the school office, and the office staff will promptly contact the parent/guardian. A Permit To Leave Campus will then be given to the student.
If a student will be out of school for an extended time, they need to pick up a Pre‐Planned Absence Form from the office. This form must be signed by the parents, all of the student's teachers, guidance counselor and the principal. Also, a note should be sent to the office.
PLEASE NOTE: For the safety of our students, faculty and staff only essential visitors will be allowed in the building during the school day. If you are picking up your student, please refrain from coming into the building. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Last year's books have been distributed to face‐to‐face learners who ordered. Remote learners who
ordered books will need to come in to the office to pick them up. Students who reserved a book but
did not pay will need to pay in the office prior to receiving their book. Some additional books are
