Confirmation on Friday the 7th of September.
Children’s Mass - A children’s mass is held each Tuesday morning before school at 8am at
St Peter’s Church. All children are welcome to attend and the Mass finishes in time for

Catholic Education Week
29 July – 4 August 2018 Catholic Education Week will be celebrated across Queensland from 29 July – 4 August this year.
This annual event is held to promote the special ethos of Catholic schools and to highlight the great things that take place in Catholic schools every day. The theme for this year’s celebrations is: Discovering New Horizons.
Catholic education strives to make a difference in the lives of those in our schools and in the wider community by
challenging young people to live out the message of Jesus and to reach their full potential as compassionate,
contributing, life-giving members of society. There are 304 Catholic schools in Queensland that educate around
147,000 students and employ more than 19,000 teachers and staff
During Catholic Education Week 2018, Catholic education communities across Queensland are invited to celebrate
how they are discovering new horizons. Our school is asking students to reflect on our ‘Community in Learning’ and
we will share these reflections with the community next week.
We thank you for your ongoing support

Brisbane Catholic Education Listens Surveys
One of the ways we can continually improve as a school is to seek regular feedback from our community. Next week, we will be launching the Brisbane Catholic Education Listens suite of surveys and asking our parents and carers, our students and our staff what they think of St Peter’s School. As partners in your child's education, what you think of our school matters. We’re calling these surveys 'listening surveys' because we want to hear from as many in our community as possible. Our goal is to ensure we continually improve our efforts to provide an enriching Catholic education for every student in our care. All surveys will be confidential. Parents/carers and staff will have until the 20th of August to complete the survey. You will be sent an email next week with a link to the survey. The survey can also be accessed via the parent portal. Surveys are completed online, however if you require a paper copy to complete, please contact the school office. Teachers will be allocating a small amount of class time (we estimate about one half hour session) at an appropriate time next week for our students from Years 4 to Years 6. An information sheet was sent home to parents of these students last week and a copy of this information is also on our school portal. In the meantime, if you have any questions, you can contact our school survey coordinator by emailing [email protected].

Tuckshop News - Thank you to the people who have responded to the request for volunteers to assist in tuckshop or provide homebake. Tuckshop is only successful with the ongoing support of these dedicated helpers! Just last week we provided to our children and staff over 1350 items (that's over 2 days and only includes preordered food)! If you are able to help out, even just for one occasion, please contact the school.
Term 3 started with the addition of Chicken Noodle Soup and Hot Milo to our menu. 80 servings of Hot Milo and 31 servings of Chicken Noodle Soup were sold last week. It would appear that these are very popular additions to the menu!
There are two sports carnivals in August (Prep - Yr 2 10 August and Yr 3 - Yr 6 31 August). This year only the Yr 3 - Yr 6 Sports Day will have a different menu for all grades. The Winter Menu will be available for the Prep -Yr 2 Sports Day. Watch this space for further information regarding sports day tuckshop.

Important information from Brisbane Catholic Education
To ensure our community of schools are as safe as possible, Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) schools and
offices will conduct a ‘’mock” critical incident exercise on Wednesday 1 August.
What will occur?
This “mock” exercise is being coordinated by our crisis management consultants in liaison with Queensland
Police and other emergency services. The details are kept under-wraps, known only to a small number of
organisers.
Who will be involved?
Principals of the schools directly involved in the exercise have been advised. The exercise will also involve
many people from various areas of BCE.
Your school is not directly involved.
What you may hear.
While we will do our best to inform the community before, during and after that this is a “mock” exercise, it
may be viewed by some as an actual event.
Please do not be alarmed if you hear reports of an incident on that day involving Catholic schools.
Springwood Community Kindergarten is taking enrolments for 2019 and onward. We are a not-for-profit kindergarten
affiliated with Gowrie Qld at 19 Dennis Road, Springwood. We provide a safe and exciting learning environment for

A message regarding the 5B Hamper Raffles Stall!
At the 2018 Spring Fair, 5B families will be running a Hamper Raffles stall. Raffle tickets will only be available on fete day. The P&F have been working hard to secure donations for these hampers. Now we ask St Peter’s Families to donate additional items on the upcoming 'SOCKS FOR SAFETY' Day on Wednesday, September 5th, 2018. A hamper donation is requested in lieu of gold coin donation.
Each class has been assigned a theme, and we ask families to donate items within their class theme. Some examples are noted as a guide but you may come up with your own ideas.
Many families have more than one child at St Peter’s and we appreciate that it might be easier to choose to donate one larger item for one class rather than multiple small items for all classes. This is entirely up to you and your family and we are grateful for all donations.
We will use a box as collection point in each classroom.
Please note: all items need to be long life items (please check expiry date is after the 21 November 2018). We are unable to accommodate fresh items or items that require refrigeration.
We thank you in anticipation of your ongoing support.
Talk with the other parents in your child's class and create an amazing hamper for your theme that will attract
lots of raffle ticket buyers on fete day! Working together will make this fete a great success!
