Lithium Project : Teverola production plant & the JV in Argentina
In March 2017 FIB bought from Whirlpool Corporation the ex Indesit industrial site, located inTeverola, where it will carry out a plant for the production of lithium cells with an initialinstalled capacity of 200MWh/y.
In December 2017, Jujuy Litio SA was established, between FIB and JEMSE, for theconstruction of a plant for the manufacture of active materials, lithium cells andelectrical systems and / or devices that use batteries of this type.
FIB will bring the know-howproductive and commercial,while the organization ArgentineGovernment (JEMSE) will make availableto Jujuy Litio SA the lithium carbonateProduced in the State of Jujuy.
The Argentine partnership will allow access to raw materials at competitive prices,allowing for a significant saving in cell production costs and access to the SouthAmerican (MercoSur) market.
Initial production capacity: 200 MWh/year (Li-ion cells)
Main markets: ESS and industrial storage market
Surface: about. 37.000 sq.m. (112.000 sq.m. outside)
Employees: about 75 employees from Whirlpool (3 shifts)

The control system developed by FAAM has several advantages over other marketed product:

The future – Celss Roadmap
• Currently, FAAM Research Center is working on the industrialization of lithium-ion cells, based on lithium-iron-phosphate (generation 1) for industrial and special applications with specific energy of about 130 Wh/kg.
• Currently, commercial lithium-ion cells with higher specific energy reach c.a. 230 Wh/kg.
• In accordance with the European programs (SET Plan – action 7) the Group is committed to the development of generation 3 of Lithium-ion and post-lithium technologies, and subsequent.
Through European and national projects, FAAM is focusing its efforts on:
1) advanced lithium-ion cells based on high-potential cathode materials (LMNO, olivine materials) and anodes based on Sicilio (Si-graphene) to achieve specific energies higher than 250 Wh / kg.
2) Lithium-sulfur cells to reach specific energies around 400 Wh / kg
