How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary task?

As well as making our music video, we were also asked to create two different ancillary tasks. These tasks were to produce a digipak front, middle and back and also an

advert for our chosen song, ‘You belong with me’ by Taylor Swift. The three media products needed a

significant link with each other. It is important that they all work effectively together so they can then appeal to

our chosen target audience.

We portrayed the theme of love throughout both our video and ancillary tasks by using a variety of different

camera shots. For example, close up shots to show emotion, which will then create empathy from the

audience. One example of camera work in our music video is a close up at the very end of the video where both Sophie and Jack are holding hands, this is one way of

showing its a happy ending. Another close up which is also shown in our ancillary task is a shot were Jack helps

Sophie pick up her books in the corridor. I believe this is an important shot because its the first time in the video we

see Sophie and Jack together.

The style font we have used on our digipak reflects the genre and theme of the music video.

Our advert is very effective in terms of combining with the main product. The colours used, are a variety of pinks, which connects to

the genre of music and lyrics.

Overall I believe the combination of the three media products work successfully and effectively together because the amount of links that can be made through out all the products reflects the connection it has. I believe that our main product and our

ancillary texts worked together not just successfully as a whole but they were also pleasing in themselves as individual pieces of

art.
