  • Process: Bargaining preparation for this round began over a year ago. Bargaining team met locally with the employer in December, January, February, March, and April. Provincial Template Table met the last week of January.

  • Article 2 Harassment Article 2.1 Statement of Commitment The final paragraph of the Article speaks to the employer offering education and training programs. This sentence was added: The Unions and Employers agree that attendance is required and will take place during compensated work time.

It still includes labs, practicums, workshops and field activities. Added clinical practice and studios. Deleted intro phrase ending with 1994. 5.62.1 Previously just stated maximum US/CT hours are 480. Added Normal assigned contact hours in University Studies is 450.

  • CORFA Local Agreement Article 5 Working Conditions cont. 5.6.2.2 Assigned contact hours greater than 450 is overload 5.6.4 Preparation Hours of Work - Just a title change added the words: for University Studies and/or Career Technology Courses 5.6.4.1 Preparation hours per Week a) added to a weekly maximum of 15 contact hours as per 5.6.3.1 b) added the 4 x4 language 5.6.4.2 New language - added calculation of part-time work

  • CORFA Local Agreement Article 5 Working Conditions cont. 5.7.1 changed duty period to 37 weeks including statutory holidays This was a long discussion. Heres the math: 261 potential work days in a year. 44 of these are vacation 20 of these are PD. 10 of these are NI. 12 are stat holidays. Maximum of 175 work days = 35 weeks. But, the period of the work days may stretch out as long as 37 weeks because stat holidays, PD and/or NI days may be part of this period.

New 5.8 moved language from 7.2.2.1 and 7.2.2.2 regarding hours for auxiliary vocational instructors

Removed reference to 2011-2012 academic year Removed hours for coordinator to ensure courses are ready Letter of Understanding New Special Projects Faculty assigned to special projects instruction will be assigned 4.5 contact hours per student in an individualized 3-credit course, pro-rata. The contact hours are not distinctly different lecture form contact hours and are not considered prep hours as defined under Article 5.6.4

  • Vote: The CORFA Bargaining Committee recommends acceptance of the tentative Provincial Template Table agreement and the tentative local agreement Ballots will be available following the meeting as well as tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Cranbrook campus. Campuses each have a volunteer voting captain.
