2. an action which started in the past and is still going on :- with FOR / SINCE

the duration the beginning of the action

3. (THE PERFECT OF EXPERIENCE) what has happened once, twice, three times etc. within the speaker’s experience:- with once, twice, three times, …, “n” times- with ever, never- with “it’s the first time”,…eg. It’s the third time Mike has ever been in Romania. Have you ever visited the Bran castle?

SIMPLE PAST - USE

An action finished in the past:- with YESTERDAY LAST WEEK / FRIDAY etc. 2 WEEKS AGO AT 8 O’CLOCK etc.- in questions which start with “when”
