PAPERS OF PROFESSOR HERB ERT DIN GLE

The professor I S papers were mostly arranged under correspondents

although there were a number of subject files. This original order has

been maintained as far as possible.

Professor Dingle frequently used the backs of old letters or circvlars

etc for carbon copies of his correspondence. It has not been possible

to index the contents of such letters etc which were mos fly of an

ephemeral character. They indicate however the wide scope of his

interests.

Extraneous matter such as the offprints of other authors has been removed

and forms a separate unlisted bundle. There were a very large number of

photographic copies of articles in I The Listener l ~ and I Natu.re I , and these

have been destroyed.

of newscuttings.

College Archivist February 1980.

The original printed articles are in the collection
