2.2. Introduction Introduction
2.1. Document Objectives
The objective of this document is to provide configuration details of the SAP Solution Manager System Monitoring/Administration implemented and to enable the application system administrator(s) / authorized users in maintaining the system. It is recommended that not more than two key users be identified as the application system administrators. It is also recommended that this document should be a controlled copy in the hands of the target audience.
2.2. Document Structure
This document is broadly divided into three main sections namely, the scope of implementation, the proposed Organization Structure and the configuration details. The configuration details have been broken down into following heads:

3.3. General Settings General Settings
3.1. Prerequisites for System monitoring – ABAP Stack
The System is created in SMSY and connected with READ and TRUSTED RFCs. The User have Authorization to login to the satellite system as “trusted” (object
S_RFCACL) Satellite system have the relevant Solution Manager ST-PI and ST-A/PI patch
imported.
3.2. Configuration of System Monitoring – ABAP Stack
Go to transaction DSWP
Select the Solution Landscape:
Select “operation Setup” and system monitoring under it.

Click on “setup System Monitoring”

Select “activate monitoring for system” and select the system on which you want to activate the system monitoring and click “save”
Now, go to check CCMS Connectivity and check if the RFC for system monitoring is assigned.

If it is not assigned “red color”, then open a new session and go to transaction “smsy”
Select the system in SMSY
Go to edit mode and click “assign and check RFC destinations”

Select “assign RFC for System monitoring” and click “save”
Now, Go back to monitoring setup and refresh the RFC connection status.

Now go to the “SAP system <SID> <Installation number> tab, It would have pulled the threshold values from the Satellite system CCMS monitor.

Now activate all the relevant monitoring tasks for Application server, Server and Database and save.
Now Go back to transaction DSWP and go to “operations” tab. Now, click on “display alert” for the relevant system.
Select the component to see the alerts.
Click on the alerts to see detailed description or go to the satellite system.

3.3. Prerequisites for Central System Administration
The System is created in SMSY and connected with READ and TRUSTED RFCs. The User have Authorization to login to the satellite system as “trusted” (object

3.4. Configuration of Central System Administration
Go to transaction DSWP
Select the Solution Landscape:
Select “operation Setup” and system administration under it.

Click on the system for which you want to configure Central System Administration.
Go to General Session Customizing and make sure the RFC connection is working properly
Now go to <SID><installation Number> tab:

Select the System Role and Save
To activate the administration tasks, select the task under “General basis administration” and click on “Load default frequencies”
This will load the SAP standard frequency for this task.
Similarly, repeat this for all the relevant tasks which you want to activate for the system.
Now Go to transaction dswp >> “Operations” >> “System monitoring/Administration”

Click on “Open Tasks” to see the Overdue/Pending tasks.
