POST Awarded OCJA Grant

Thanks to the Department of Public Safety, Office of

Criminal Justice Assistance, POST was awarded

grant funding to purchase training equipment. Be-

cause of the frequency of training, intensity of train-

ing, and the number of agencies and individuals us-

ing the POST facility, the matted area where the ma-

jority of the physical training takes place (e.g. self-

defense, less than lethal, defensive tactics, etc.)

needed to be replaced.

With the grant award, 75 high performance, impact

absorbing, martial arts mats were purchased and

installed; which now provides a high quality training

surface where officers can safely engage in extreme

physically intensive training. The 50’ x 40’ cush-

ioned area is made up of state-of-the-art mats that are designed to reduce impact, reduce

stress on the joints, and reduce the risk of injury — all important factors when training

Nevada’s peace officers.
