Where ThievesCannot Break
By Brother J
I received a call from my daughter and it was not good news. She said, “Daddy while I was at work someone broke into my apartment and stole almost every everything I own.”
I felt so sad for my daughter because she has worked so hard to have the few nice things. That incident reminds me of situation we can face in life. I spend a lot of time either repair-ing or replacing things around the house or things my wife and I have.
The Bible has something to say about our worldly posses-sions. It says the things we have on earth will not last, (Mat-thew 6:19) or thieves can take them form us. The Bible gives us some advice about them. In verse 20 it says, “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.”
This does not mean we are not to own or have anything on earth, like houses or cars but it does mean that we are not to put all of our attention or affection on them. Actually we are to have Jesus Christ in our hearts and very much try to obey and do His will on earth, (Hebrews 12:28). When we obey Him and try to do His will, (1 John 2:3-5, 3:22) we are laying up treasures in heaven.
Pastor Gary Pemberton Pastor of Waters of Life Min-istries, in Temple wrote: Possessors are never moved by the things that hold others back and the things that cause others to lose heart, to draw back in fear or intimidation, or even to quit. Even though the same enemies and the same obstacles (often even stronger and larger ones) stand against them, those who possess see things totally different -- instead of obstacles and impossibilities, they see potential and possibility -- instead of failure and defeat, they see only inevitable victory and suc-cess -- instead of an enemy who is too big and too strong, they see a bigger stronger God and themselves more than capable in Him! The enemy and obstacle are never their focus – their hearts are set and they are focused only on the promise from God or the vision of God and the God who backs the promise and will fulfill the vision with all that He is.
They will NEVER stop believing and moving forward, and they refuse to quit, because they couldn’t possibly settle for anything less than God’s best -- they KNOW it’s their destiny and the very reason that they have breath! Even when knocked down or fallen, they get back up and keep going, and every set-back becomes an opportunity and a new launching pad.
They find their joy, their peace, their life, and their great-est fulfillment in their relationship with God, in the quest, the adventure, obtaining the promise, carrying out the call, and ig-niting the hearts of others to do the same! Wherever they are, they make their mark for Jesus -- and wherever they go, they leave a mark for His Kingdom!
When those who only maintain are stopped in their tracks, possessors have already seen, tasted, possessed, taken up residence, and walked out the victory in their heart and mind before even taking one more step -- just simply because God said it’s theirs! And when they step, they step expectantly with confidence and assurance, reverence and praise, boldness and resolve, and, oh yeah, they obtain the promise, they fulfill their destiny, they get the results….every time!!!
Numbers 13:1-14:9; Joshua 14:6-15; I Samuel 17; I Samu-el 30:1-20; II Chronicles 20:1-30; Philippians 4:13
Pastor Gary has made some good points that we all need to pay attention to, it was simply, that those who are possessors finish their course. This can be seen by many men and women of God before us, for they all kept their eyes on Jesus. Paul explains that we look to Jesus with faith, because it was Jesus Who set the example of finishing the course in Hebrew 12:2. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Each of us is on a journey, we are here on this Earth for a purpose, and that purpose is to glorify the Lord. So never give up, and refuse to quit as Gary said; “because they couldn’t possibly settle for anything less than God’s best—they know it’s their destiny and there reason that they have breath! Come on POSSESSORS AND LETS POSSES THIS LAND FOR JESUS!
