THE EXHIBITION ARCHITECTURAL GARDEN OF THE MUSEUM COMPLEX OF BRERA IN MILAN. SYNTHESIS OF ART AND SCIENCE BETWEEN ACTUAL ANTHROPOGEOGRAPHY AND ‘RECURRING’ PHISICAL AND CULTURALThe Lasue Workshop, in its fourth edition , involves students from different parts of the world experiencing the interpretation and foreshadowing of preliminary architectural and urban landscape design in the core of Milan.The 2017 edition focuses on the complex of museum of Brera area in the compact historic center. A different proposal for a New “Great Brera” shows the possibility that all the existing actors may remain in the historical site, by increasing the spaces outside the ancient complex and by taking into account the acquisitions already in place since twenty years. Palazzo Citterio, with the interrupted and not completed project designed by James Stirling, has its own garden in direct contact with the area of the Botanical Garden, where there had been the proposals by the group Terragni Lingeri for a new center for the Academy of Brera, that, through the entrance from via Gabba and the new spaces, would allow connection on the same area between the Academy of Fine Arts and the Pinacoteca. The alternative proposal is playing with the idea of eliminating the wall that divides the Botanical Garden of Palazzo Citterio, starting from recent survey of the Botanical Garden. The new “settlement principle” must take into account the physical and cultural environment pre-existences, the importance of the clearing of spontaneous trees, proposing steps with suspended activated a linkage between the spaces of Palazzo Citterio courtyard, new exhibition spaces and teaching, in direct connection with the front of the Torricini, the Pinacoteca, the astronomical Observatory Museum and nationalLibrary Braidense. The design intention recalls and endorses the original will of Maria Theresa from Austria on the founding act of the Pinacoteca as a paradigm and active exemplum for the Academy to a new “synthesis between sciences and arts”, in the concatenation of designed spaces, between new and existing, for the new sharing of multiple contacts, that currently animate the monumental complex of Brera. The hypothesis promotes a renewed and proper union of the environment of the spaces, that are dedicated to leisure, culture and research, in a public place that contains the values of a present memory for an urban future.The workshop design experience will take place through days of laboratory and design review, and some conferences and meetings with Architects, Design and Urban Planning professors. The program foresees the beginning of the workshop on february 16, with the introduction to the theme of the project. The term is scheduled for March 3, with a mid-term review discuss the students’ work and a final presentation of the proposed solutions.
