A Turbulent Life

Standing alone inside darkness

Shadows billowingHe does not speakSilence deafening

Comfortable silenceSimple silence

This I envy himBut

As I stand beside himI borrow his silence

A brief moment of comfortIn this

A turbulent life

The God ConceptChildren are angels

And are always protectedBy love and by God

But man can’t see GodAnd we humans feel lonely

And so we leave God

To give up heavenAnd to live a life as man

Happily or not

I want to be lovedBy the one that I still love

Under God or not

And as for human This is what it truly means

To become Human

An on going search forthe truth

One we never solve

The sun could fade The moon could explode

Just remember that I’m with youI’ll meet you half way down the road

‘Cause I know you’ll need the helpI know you’ll need a hand

I’ll follow almost anywhereWe’ll leave our footprints in the sand

There are flowers on the groundClouds up in the sky,

And people that will love you,People who will never say goodbye.

I hope you count me as one Those people who love you so

I hope you always rememberSo I don’t fade away like snow

I don’t care if I’m unhappyOr if some great tragety shall befall

All I care about is you

Nothing else matters, nothng at all

So those flowers soon will fadeAnd those clouds will blow away Just remember that I love you

For forever and a day!

Death of A LovedOne

Blink away unshed tearsBrimming bloodshot eyes

I watchFeeling helpless

Too lose loveLike losing yourself

Love is infiniteBut…What happens to love? When someone dies?

Does it die?Disappear into nothingness?

Or...Does it remain?

Slowly fadingUntil bright blinding fire

Becomes not but dwindling light?

Do we ever Truly

Stop loving?When love is established

Can it dissipate?

Look deep insideAsk

“Can I ever stop?”

I look at youIt’s hard to believe you will

Even after deathLove stays strong in your heart

RepresentedBy small salty droplets

ConstantPainful remindersOf a love

Now lost…

Love to Hate You

I’m sorry I love youI’m sorry I care

I’m sorry I told youI’d always be there

You look at the sky

While I watch through the mirrorBut of course, thanks to you

All I see is a sinner

I’ve done it all wrongBut of course, you’ve done it all right

We’re so God damn differentBut hey, you started the fight

So I’ll take a littleBut you’ll give me a lot You call me heartless

And then it all goes to pot

So you can call me a bitchAnd I won’t call you for dinner

Say what you wantI’ll still come out the winner

You’ll fight me, you’ll hate meI’ll scratch and I’ll hiss

It doesn’t matter what I say You still end up on the piss

Yeah, I know it’s not pretty

And it’s different from the restBut who cares about themI think our way is best

But when I say ‘I love you’

Page 12: Poetry of '09 by Hannah Sefton

You’ll say ‘I love you too’I glance at you sidewaysHa! That’s total bull-poo

‘Cause you love to fightAnd baby I love to boastBut none of that matters

‘Cause I love to hate you the most…

BelieveIt is best to believe

And to never doubt kindnessBecause a conscience

Isn’t something you’re born with.Not even close.

We are bornWith greed

And appetite

Survival instincts

But a ConscienceIt is something that is grown

It grows inside of youWith time

And so each conscience is differentWith a different shape

A unique name...And a specific sound

It is howeverIn our nature

To doubt

But you must believe.

And if you can,Grow

And be able to believe, Then you willUndoubtedly

Be able to help othersBelieve too.

And to be able to believeIt is the most

BeautifulCoveted gift

AnyoneCould ever bestow

And one day, Those people

Will thank you.

For youWill have given them

SomethingMore than beautiful

You’ve given them somethingMagical

English Intimidation!Ever wonder how much I hate this?

Never ending essays on Shakespeare and such

G ive me your worse; I’ll take everything you’ve got

Lavish vocabularies count for not beyond these fourwalls!

Intimidations won’t work on me, 10,000 words? *Gulp*No problem!

S adistic mid games and word play won’t get to me

Ha! I’ll happily take you on! Straight A’s here I come!

Inspire me id you can, I know I’m hard to please

Needless to say, English does little to spark theimagination

T ill I’m free of this place I’ll do all the work

Intelligence be damned, all I want is to pass

Maybe a little better than a simple pass

Indulge me for once and give us a breather

Don’t Grade me work then! See if I care!

Actually, scratch that, I care a lot.

T hanks for the support; I guess you could have done aworse job

It’s nothing personal, I promise!

On the contrary, you’re a great teacher

Never the less, I still hate English.

No Longer Welcome

This isn’t Kansas anymore The uproar sweeps me awayLost within the winds,

I find myself Transported to a time and placeFar away from home

We wake, to find bedlam

Something troubles this soul The death of decency

The decay of sentimentsMen deep in slumber

Care no longerFor the outcries of the oppressed

We wake, to find ourselves in anarchy

Lawless, The leaders themselvesNo longer bother to punish the wickedHands tied

Hands washedLike Pontius Pilate

The innocent are crucified

I can no longer remain blind.Restless

I tossI turn

Trembling with cold sweatAn aching in my very soulFor the sanctuaryNow leftDestitute by evil hands

Weapons fashioned out of wordsDeath on our doorstepsmore slain in their wake

Cry for the martyrsAnd weep for those yet to comeExpelled from paradise

This desolate landNo longer the placeI onceCalledHome’

EnvyEnvy

JealousWant

Basic human emotionsPointless emotionsPathetic emotions

If we find envy

Over another personIt is becauseWe see something

Something we have yet to findIn ourselves

And if we look at it that way,We ’ll slowlyBut surely

Want to try and realizeOur true potential

And The want to better ourselves

Is surely

A good thing

PerhapsEnvy

Isn ’t so pointless after all

Egypt

The rivers of Egypt flowLike the tears of its peopleHard and heavy tears

They suffer

A murderous command ensuesCarried out by men

Too naïve

Too stupid to denyA ‘Masters’ request

They bowLike lapdogs at Pharaohs feet

Tails wagging in wait of praiseReady to obey

Eager to please

Pharaoh sits atop his thrownLooking down upon his people

They live in povertyA blessed poverty

Compared to that of a slave

Those slaves That give of their lives

And take little in pay

Slaves that sufferUnder Pharaoh

And a blinding sunBoth as hot tempered

And unforgiving as the other

Endure the crack of leather

On bleeding battered backsOnly to have their children

Their blessedLittle ones

Taken away Thrown to the beasts of Egypt

Drowning in a sea of blood

The rivers of Egypt flowLike the tears of its peopleHard and heavy tears

They suffer

Morning AfterA cab

A smileA drunken party favour

Memories that count for little in her drunkenstupor

She tossesThe bedMuch softer than she remembers

Eyes snap openRealization hits

New bedNew room

No clothes … Oops

How much did she drink? She asks

Head poundingEyes blurry

A smile she remembersBut who ’s smile? And eyes

Bright

BlindingBlue eyes

Eyes

Unlike her ownHer topazMarble concoction

She tumbles from the bedInstantly regret follows suit

The world spinsShe losses balance

The draws tumbleShe falls

She lands

SharpSmooth;

GlassA photo

She lifts it to her eyesStaring in awe of this man

Bright blue eyesThat pierces her very soul

And a smile To melt the iciest of hearts

Who is this man?Was it he whom she remembers?

And then she spots itA shining band of gold

Around his wedded fingerPerhapsShe is better off Not knowing after all …

WatchI watch you from across the room

I wonder why you’re cryingI ask if there’s a way to helpI wonder if inside your dying

I can’t help but be curious You’re usually so full of lifeI can’t help but be saddened

And what’s up with the pocket knife?

Did he hit you again? Is that what this is about?

Did he make you cry?Is that why you’re set in a permanent pout?

Let me help you little childStop wondering through darkness deep

Let me help you little sweetheartStop following the pack like some little sheep

Why won’t you let me help you out?Why won’t you let me in?

Why won’t you let me give you strength? And a new chance to begin.

I feel as though I should help you outBut you make it awful hard

I’m trying to understand what’s wrongBut I feel like a bloody retard!

If you’d give me a chance to help you outA chance to show you I can

If you’d let me pull you out againI’ll show you he’s no man

So let me help you out You know I can

Let me pull you through darknessInto the arms of a real man

Home SicknessA placeA time

A moment

Somewhere I once belonged

No matter whom you are You have a place in your heart

Containing an unforgettable momentAn unforgettable placeAn unforgettable time

And once you’ve realized You can never go back

You’ll want to return even more. That is what we call

Home Sickness

But we only ever miss

What we once hadWhen we become happy

And so,Missing home is a good thing

For it will alwaysBe good

To feel happiness

HOW DARE YOU!

She gave you lifeShe gave you loveShe held your hand

Like she was sent from above

She tells you hello You tell her goodbye

She tells you she loves youAnd then you make her cry.

How dare you say that! How dare you make her sad!How dare you ever hurt her!

She never acted that bad

All she asks is that you help her,And stop acting like a bitch!Sure you might be pregnant,

And you life has many-a hitch.

But guess what little BarbieNot everything goes great!

Now she drunk and off her face

But don’t worry, she won’t be late.

She’ll come and help you out tonightAnd probably just forget it.

But there’s nothing like the wake up call They your daughter treats you like shit!

I hate you little Barbie doll! You don’t want to see me, that’s fine!

I don’t care about you anymore You’re no sister of mine!

I LOVE YOU ALWAYS

I Love you

Like the sunshine loves the skyline

O range fingers fringe out against blue skyViolet swirls intrude and blur the boundaries

between the twoEntwining itself into a ray of beauty

You’ve always love the sunrise

On gleaming fresh cut grass

Under blossoming Eucalyptus tree’s

And although you’ve never said the words

Like ‘I love you, now and forever’

Well, that doesn’t mean that’s not the way you feel

Actually, it makes me think you love me all the more

You believe the words are special, and should bethrown around

So I’ll let you know, I love you, and just hope youlove me too
