Introduction

By Edward Reed

Running a nation is no small

commitment. It requires hours of hard

work and dedication. When I was elected

to this post I knew little of the time it

would take out of my life. Meeting with

advisors, drafting bills, and of course being

an advisor to TLR alliance, along with

being a deputy of development take up

most of my time. I bring this up because

of my decision to endorse this newspaper.

During my busy schedule there is little

time to address the public on all that goes

on in our great nation. So by endorsing

the Plutonian Herald I hope to give our

citizens an informed and accurate

newspaper. Thank you for your time and

enjoy.

Signed

Chairmen Edward Reed

Rebuilding Complete

It left 400,000 dead, cost hundreds of

millions of dollars, and lead to massive

destruction. The true cost of the war will never

be known, many of those who died in the

nuclear strikes left little to no remains. The

BFF-Sentinel front, though a minor

confrontation in the large global war around it,

consumed hundreds of nations fighting each

other for reasons that were lost to the ages. It

is regarded as the bloodiest war in Plutonian

history and to commemorate those lost

Chairmen Reed commissioned a war memorial

to be built.

The BFF-Sentinel War Memorial was completed on February 1st, 2012 and cost roughly 27million

dollars to construct.

With the war behind us Plutonia set about

rebuilding and, just a few weeks ago

reconstruction on the National Highway

System was finished and with that done

every rebuilding project has been

completed. Not only have we repaired

what we lost but we have also improved

upon existing structures. The future looks

bright for Plutonia!

December-April

With the opening shots of the war fired,

stocks plummeted as citizens lost

confidence in the market. Within the week

Chairmen Reed had authorized executive

order 2074 calling for the rationing of all

material deemed war essential. Once the

war started Plutonia’s industries sparked

into action as the war expanded so did the

need for the weapons to fight it. It is said

that the massive factory complexes in the

Balkans produced over 10,000 tanks an

hour.

While the Lufthansa Airplane Factory

produced hundreds of F-22 Raptors and

Tupolev Tu-160 heavy bombers, during

the final months of the war the high tech

factories of Lufthansa were knocked out

and they were forced to manufacture a

previous model (Su-30 MkIII)

. This

bomber’s manufacturing cost is around 1.3 million € a plane and during the war Plutonia made 2365 of them

Getting all of this equipment to the front

lines was quite an undertaking. The heart

of the Plutonian Guard’s Supply line lay

near the large coal deposits of Alsace-

Lorraine. The trains, normally carrying

peaceful citizens became converted to

hauling war equipment to the various

fronts.

A train leaving the station became a common occurrence with one leaving every 53 seconds

All of this required large amounts of

money, in fact it is estimated that for every

second we fought the war it cost us

€750,000. As the National Reserve

continued to drain, the Plutonian

government continued to aid the other

nations fighting alongside it. In total it is

estimated that Plutonia contributed 12

billion Euros to other nation’s war efforts.

When the peace accords where finally

signed aboard the PSS Draco Ω the damage

to the economy was not only seen in the

reduced cash reserves but in the huge

destruction of the nation’s infrastructure.

Roads were destroyed by bombing, power lines

had been cut by fighting and train tracks had

been rendered useless by enemy saboteurs.

With the war’s end the economy did not

improve and facing the threat of a massive

depression the government took action. In the

months following the ending of the war Chairman Reed and his cabinet outlined their

plan for a national recovery. With generous aid

from the Legion and other nations within the

Republic the government set about reinvesting

the money back into the infrastructure that

had been destroyed. To rebuild the shattered

nation put many back to work and the fears of

a depression seemed like a distant memory.

The NSE (Nuremberg Stock Exchange)

rebounded slowly but is currently at levels

never seen before. With the rapid growth

draining the National Reserve and the need for

more infrastructure deemed excessive,

Chairman Reed has called for a decrease in

government funded rebuilding efforts.

Vice-Chairmen Ryan of Plutonia unveils the proposed budget for the next 3 years.

However Reed has promised that no essential

services will be cut in the new budget.

¤Travel Warning¤

Planning a vacation? Here are some tips to stay safe on your trip.

With the recent completion of reconstruction citizens once again feel safe going out to the

wonderful vacation spots throughout Plutonia. However due to the radiation some locations are

off limits while clean-up crews finish up restoring the landscape.

While there is no apparent threat of war we must always remain vigilant of saboteurs. So if you see

something suspicious report it to the nearest officer.

Thank you for your attention to and adherence to this PSA brought to you by the Department of Public Safety

Book Corner

This Month We Proudly Present

Plutonia by Vladimir Obruchev

Background- A classic revisited. Out on

the Eastern Boundary of the Empire this

story comes to us from expert geologist

Vladimir Obruchev.

Summary-a story of Plutonian scientists who

travel into the northern Arctic thinking they

will discover some unknown land and it will be

a part of the empire. However, they experience

some inexplicable events during their travels:

an extremely continental deep depression into

the earth's surface near the Arctic, and warm,

fertile lands near the "North Pole", and the

strange position of the Sun. Plus, the strange

behavior of the barometer, the compass and

the altimeter. They also find primitive animals

long extinct from Earth.

The explorers realize that they have traveled to the earth's inner surface. After that, the more they go into the inner surface, which they now call " New Plutonia", the more they travel back

in time and experience the flora and fauna of the different stages of Earth's history. The author, V. A. Obruchev, takes the reader through a journey that is so realistic.

Final Verdict- A classic piece of literature

that will be enjoyed once more by the

current generation of readers.
