Write noun phrases (adjective/s followed by a noun) (e.g.dark wood) and onomatopoeia words (e.g. splish, splash, crunch) to describe what they can see in the pictures. Maths 1B Pages 90-92 - Non-standard units of measure (1) Please see on the next 2 pages for activities/explanations from the maths textbook. These activities should be completed before the workbook to aid understanding. This lesson is an introduction to measuring. Instead of learning straight away how to use a ruler and measure in cm this lesson encourages measuring using non- standard units. The non-standard unit in this lesson is multilink cubes. Your child will need to look carefully at the pictures and determine how long or tall an object is in multilink cubes. E.g. The plane is 6 multilink cubes long. Your child could practice measuring objects around the house using a non-standard unit of measuring such as a Lego block.
